Mato's voice always makes these games 10x more epic XD. Also great aggressive play by Petrosian.

I first got interested in chess in the early 70's watching my grandparents play. My grandfather's brother was then chairman of the Sri Lanka Chess federation. I was hopeless at the game but my grandfather gave me a book to study which had chess games involving the best players of the time. The names that stood out for me were Petrosian, Alekhine, Capablanca, Botvinnik and Tal. Now, thanks to Mato, those games are come alive for me.

Loved the game. Personally, I've never had the guts to sacrifice more than one piece per game. Win or lose though, the games are way more interesting this way.

Its Tigran L Petrosian(www.chessgames.com/perl/chessplayer?pid=50086) not Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian (www.chessgames.com/perl/chessplayer?pid=16149)

Orphamiel Thanks that makes sense now. Also makes sense why this Tigran Petrosian played such a "sharp" game and not super defensive like the other Petrosian

Jaime Juan Suarez Martínez I actually haven't studied his games. I've just heard he had a "super defensive" style, but I'll believe you. I can see how one would have more diverse "styled" games.

+Jaime Juan Suarez Martínez. I agree with Frank. This is a sharper game than what you'd anticipate from the world champion. That said, if you find winning chess games boring, then by all means study someone else. In my opinion, the logic in his games is easier to follow than anyone I know of. Tigran Vartanovich Petrosian. I really like the way this guy played chess.

This is the younger Petrosian. Tigran Levonovic Petrosian had no family connection to the former (now deceased) World Champion Tigran Vartanovic Petrosian.

instead of Rook takes on F7 , I would've sacrificed the Queen moving her to F6 , after Bishop captures Queen , Knight takes Bishop Checkmate . Pawn is pinned by the Rook .

Hi Mato, a wonderful game as usual. One question though; the great chess player Tigran Petrosian that I know of died in 1984 of stomach cancer. How could he play a game in 2006? This can't be the same guy right? Am i missing something?

Vernon Goh Thanks for the clarification. I also had noticed the aggression shown in the game we do not usually associate with the former world champ'.
