I like your way to show the games, letting people guess the moves, joking from time to time, quick and well explained. I used to play long time ago and you are making me playing chess again. thank you Mato.

I feel that Mato should have much more subscribers that he currently does. I've watch commentators from other channels and they just seemed too long winded and not to the point. Mato's videos seems to be just right. Analyzing different variations at the most crucial points of the game and I love it when he says, " we have reached the critical position of the game"

Your accent is probably the best one for lecturing chess. Makes it more exciting in a way, and builds up the suspense. And in mixture with the actual content of the video it makes up for a very good cake to eat (for your brain of course)

I heard about a kid at the junior championships, tormenting opponent be capturing everything and collecting queens. "Like a draw?" he teased. "Yeah!" Head nods up and down. "Well you can't have one!" "Game drawn," observed an observant arbiter.

Hi Mato- Thanks for your video of this Scotch Steinitz variation. It is a truly awesome game by Karjakin (how old was he when he played this? 13,14,15?). This is a seminal game not only in attacking the castled king but also in playing against Qh4 Steinitz Scotch.There are other lines in the Scotch Steinitz and while it looks good for White he better beware of traps like this! Noone ever risked playing this Steinitz variation against the modern master of the Scotch, Gary Kasparov. Again thanks for your video analysis of one of my all time favourite games (I like playing the Scotch!). Best wishes :-)

+Vineet Shilpa because white saw that he had checkmate in few moves and did not want to waste time on queen
@vinitkhatavkar53769 жыл бұрын
Jonah Klein if the queen was lost at that time then for checkmate 2 moves would have been reduced, but i also agree with yu because these GM's like to play in such complications.
@joshuareturns99078 жыл бұрын
+Vineet Shilpa I would not like to play a GM, down that much material and with less chances at mating threats. The threat of mate is far more powerful and pinning the queen allows for other options. rf6 was best.
@joshuareturns99078 жыл бұрын

Pertaining to 5:13 bishop to e2 queen pin and trade up - - White loses his offensive white square bishop for a queen that is forced to be defensive because of the isolated black king. The black queen would be replaced by the black bishop and eventually the black rook as white has to move his rook out to re-create that pressure. White has to use his tempo and bully black into an even more awful position before he snatches the queen. I also forget to mention that black can also bring his knight to E5, but I'm not sure that would do as much good. In short, there's no point trading when you have a positional advantage if it doesn't give you good things, and whether or not something is good is best decided not by the individual value of a piece but the value of the overall position. Also, rooks take time to develop if they're single file. I think they're best played naturally into the game rather than forced out as that costs in tempo, though it can be really strong. See a strong move? Look for a stronger one.

@tigerboy19668 жыл бұрын
I didn't get ANY of the key moves right on this one! This does teach a good lesson for not very good players like me who are always trying to get ahead on material. If you look at 5:20 you see that it's not much use having more pieces if the pieces are completely passive.
