Peugeot 205 XS - Drive Film

A short film depicting the simple joy of just going for a drive. Not to anywhere, not for anything, just for the drive.
We take the simple and pure Peugeot 205 XS for a drive down some Autumn roads. With an old fashioned carburetor fed engine, 5 speed close ratio manual gearbox and steering that is without any power assistance, it makes for an intimate, engaging driving experience.
Not fast, but still fun.

I've owned several 205xs's. No other car drives quite like it, it has a unique character that makes it so much fun to drive. It certainly feels fast to drive. It's so light and agile. I miss mine.

Back in the 80s, we had both the 205 GTi 1.6 and the XS in my family and I alternated between them. Due to its lower gearing, the XS could match the GTi from 30-70 mph whilst being better to drive because of the light steering. The XS has been an underrated car until now, so its great to see videos like this with all the positive comments.

Had an XS from new, the memory of it still brings a big smile to my face. Once upon a time, about ten years ago, I met Chris Harris at a drifting course. He kicked off a 'favourite car' conversation with the people there, all of whom had turned up in cars I could only daydream about owning. When it came go me, I said 205 XS.... Bugger me if Chris Harris didn't shout "me too"! Like me, he'd had the huge pleasure of owning one in his early driving days, and it had worked it's magic on him too. There was something very special about that car. Thanks for the video.

When I passed my test 25 years ago, some of us had our own very cheap cars (mine was a mini) and some drove parents cars. My mates mum had one of these and it would shit all over our cars. Absolutely loved it! Had many uninsured thrashes in it.

this video brings tears to my eyes, as my dad owned one when i was a little kid, i was in love with the pocket rocket, i cried so hard when he had to sell it for a company car ;( , i hope to buy one , one day and experience it myself driving it

Excelent job with the music and vídeo. Everything is very 80'. I came here because of the 205, i love that car. You tried to capture the senses and feelings while driving, the whole thing tend to look as a movie. Wanna see new work on the 205. Greetings from Argentina!

Tolles Video und tolles Auto. Ich hatte auch einen 205 XS. Super Auto und schon nicht langsam der Kleine. Nach dem XS hatte ich 2 GTI's. Es war eine schöne Zeit mit den Peugeot 205. Heute fahre ich einen braven 208 Allure eHDI mit 92 PS

When the second butterfly opens up on the twin choke solex with k+n filter these are a great sounding little car.and a nice new fresh standard exhaust system sounds crisp.

What kind of tyres you got under there? I rock the 185/60 GoodYear EfficientGrip Performance. Large tyres but I need that grip in the wetness that is Holland haha

Great litle video. Great underrated car. Should have never of sold both of my xs; the 85hp double barrel carbed version and the second version 75hp injection. One was black and the other white.. Stupid decision. Maybe some day I'll own another one.
