Peugeot 207 1.6 HDi 92 '06 Coldstart at -22celcius

Peugeot 207 HDi 92 1.6 '06, temperature at -22celcius. Car has been standing still in the cold (-20 to -28celcius) for 16 hours, no pre-heating. It starts, but it's not easy, heh. Sorry for the poor start of the vid, lighted up a smoke before starting to film and I ran out of hands :)

Well, the car was 6 years, nearly 7, old when I had it. I changed it for an Alfa (call me crazy, but I just love 'em). This was the one and only time it was started out that cold without preheating, because I do know what coldstarts do to an engine. Thanks for your worry tho! :)

У меня такой же мотор, только он при -22 заводится уже на втором обороте коленвала (максимум заводка длится 2-3 сек). И такого треска нет и близко.

Well, not too much... During the 6month time I had the car, I replaced brake disks and pads, rear wheel hubs, clutch and some other stuff. So mainly everything that wears with use

Use castrol 0w30 fst, good protection and better to starts in cold temperatures, 222 000km congratulations !! dont forget to tighten the 4 injectors in this model every oil change ( i have the same car with 1.6hdi 110cv) and you can add 30ml max of acetone in your fuel tank it's not dangerous for your engine and better to start it.

Should have. It was the only start done completely without preheating; car had working Webasto (fuel powered heater) that wasn't used for the purpose of this vid. It was done clearly to show how difficult old glowplugs + cold weather is on a car, especially a diesel.

Thats not ok, mine starts in 2 seconds in the same cold conditions. Maybe old glowplugs?

thats a depleted battery, you need something with more amps to heat the coils, the moment you revved it to get some electricity generated, it was happy

if the battery was dead, it wouldn't have started at all... Also as it is an commonrail diesel, it also means battery has to be able to rev the engine up enough or it won't start. Too low revs and CR fails at start completely, even if everything else is OK.

Hah, well it would be more descriptive. Old gloplugs (presumably) does that... Never got around to changing them before I sold the car. Was nice looking car, but lacked personality of the Italians, I went ahead and bought an Alfa :)

***** Volvo from old times are gone my sir. Now they're just Mondeo's with better anti-corrosion system. My 2.0 HDi peugeot 406 from 2000y starts up with no problem on -17. Lower? I dunno, winter wasn;t so bad yet.
