Hi,some feed back from viewers, interesting. If your clutch pedal is not returning by fully, then it is a worn out ball end and housing clip like in the video, you need a new master cylinder and the housing clip. Not easy to replace, but I’ll explain in the driver footwell remove lower half facia trim-the under part of trim- release the steering column from the bottom one 13mm nut/bolt, swing aside the column-see the clutch pedal assembly-fit in place the special pliers to release the housing clip or smash it with screw driver, it’s no good anyway-undo the 3x10mm nuts & 1x13mm nut to release the pedal assembly, carefull if you press the pedal to release the shaft ball end from clip it’s spring assisted & can take you by surprise-remove assembly-fit the new housing clip BUT don’t push it fully home-now go to engine bay support left side of engine ie, trolly jack, remove top left engine mount female tied head bolts-lower engine for access to bulk head, there may be some sound proof material to unclip move aside see clutch master cyl-inclip pressure feed pipe at front release its retaining clip, plug the pipe-pull off or unclip the feed pipe from top plug the pipe-unclip the clutch switch connector-twist the whole cylinder body clock wise 1/8 of a turn to release from bulk head, may require some large mole grips to grasp the cylinder body from inside, BUT remember to twist anti-clockwise wise from this side. Fit new master cylinder in reverse order-reconnect all-remember I said fit the housing clip half way, its self explanitary when you see it because offer the pedal assembly back up to the ball shaft, bolt back into place, then you press pedal and this seats the housing clip & ball shaft into place. Refit all inc eng mount, bleeding is unusual as there are 2 types, of slave cylinder connections, either it’s simply release bleed nipple or pull out the feed pipe to solve by 5mm then release bleed nipple to bleed anyway bleeding is gravity controlled attach catch bottle & clear tube to nipple, fill reservoir open nipple (may have to pull feed pipe out 5mm) feel the click, press clutch pedal by hand to floor watch for bubbles, when no bubbles close nipple, push pipe in (if fitted) raise pedal top up reservoir repeat can be up to 20 times, until pedal feels normal. Well done save yourself plenty of dollar even if you buy special tools still cheaper 😎

@@robertcole8730 Hi thanks for this write up and advice. Done it today on a 308 GTi I had a good look and cos of the intercooler pipe position the engine mounting out the way wouldn't have helped much. Anyone else doing a GTi. Take the scuttle panel out and remove airbox for pretty decent access. If you're on your own you can get the end of say a breaker bar on the back to give some good pressure to get the keys fully through the holes. Then you can grip from inside the cab with some grips to get it locked in.

308 (T9) 2014 ........My clutch pedal does return ok , but there is some play in the pedal , when you push the pedal down , it is almost half way down before it bites .

Hi Fernando, sounds like yours isn’t bled properly. The set up is a gravity bleed system, you attach a bleed pipe to the slave cyl bleed nipple, pull the retaining clip out, you can remove it or pull it so far and leave it half out, next pull on the feed pipe, kind of one notch you get a feel for it, practice pulling it out so far then push in again you’ll see, ok so you’ve pulled the pipe out so far, make sure to top the reservoir up, then push the clutch pedal to the floor, watch for fluid flow out of slave cyl, you may see bubbles When they stop, pudd SF h the pipe back in, raise the pedal, top up res, repeat, repeat, may take up to 20 times, but should improve your clutch, obviously if the master cyl rid and cage are worn they will need to be relaxed.

My clutch squeaks when i leave car on the sun and now when its cold when i put heating to the leges. When car is turned of i can shift easly. But when its on when i put in first or second gear i fell litle like "bump" like clutch was not disengaged fully. I was thinking of buying clutch master cylinder, sender balljoint fastener, and upper assist spring and then bleed system. Thank you.

Thank you for this video. Now we know exactly how to approach this. My mother has a 308 1.6 122hp 2014 and the clip looks sligtly different. For this model the clip is opague white. It is also a little smaller. Google 9820342980 and google pictures shows instantly. It is also pre-greased. I ordered the master cyl from ebay france and got it for 130£ inkl vat and shipping

Hi. I have the same problem. Clutch pedal coming up 3/4 and 1/4 not. I went the Peugeot garage and they said that the return assist spring on the pedal is broken. £115 is cost. I am a car mechanic and I ordered the parts and I would like changing. But I don't find the spring. I went back to the garage because when my car was under the warranty the clutch pedal was sticky. Garage said don't find any problem. I checked again my car and take the picture because the parts are not fit. I said to the engineer where is the spring. They said I don't know. This is the Authorized Peugeot service. I said why said that the spring is broken if not fit the spring. Now I would like fixing my car. Do you have any picture from the clutch pedal because I don't know how can I fix my spring?

@@robertcole8730 thanks for the reply. New cylinder is in, but pressure pipe is not going in now. I have tried pushing it in but doesn't work. Any idea wot am I doing wrong here. Is it suppose to be an easy push or does it require hard push? Thanks
@robertcole87302 жыл бұрын
Yeah can be tricky, I believe there a two types of fitting straight push on pipe that goes over the inlet, or push insert that goes inside the inlet with a little cage that you open up the gripper parts not easy to access just check the pipe end make sure if the latter to inspect any ‘O’ ring seal, but either way both should just push fit. :)

@@robertcole8730 Hi Robert, now I have replaced everything and tried my best to bleed the system. But my clutch is still at the same place as it was before replacing master cylinder. Do you think I have some clutch/pressure plate issue. I don't know wots happening. It's a start stop car and when I press clutch the car starts but it doesn't go in gear. But when I switch off car I can engage gears. It's weired.
@robertcole87302 жыл бұрын
Hello these are a pig to bleed, at the slave cyl on the gbox open the bleed screw depending on what sort is fitted you release the clip holding the pipe in place, pull the pipe out either one or two clicks it’s a feel thing, preferably use clear plastic tube from the nipple to a jar, press & pull the clutch pedal 20 times off for leave pedal down, push pipe back in, raise pedal, open pipe, repeat pedal press pull 20 times, close pipe repeat . Try pedal, repeat if necessary, don’t forget to check & top up fluid.
