Should always keep the cable under tension when lowering and lifting, seen many times the cable gets jammed in the mechanism and wheels either get stuck or don't retract the whole way

Talk about over complicating this procedure. On the 5008 I can understand that the boot space is taken up by 2 foldaway rear seats, but being disabled I would need a call to the RAC.

This all goes out the window if you have an AdBlue system as the tank is where the spare tyre would go and you just get a mousse canister and an air pump (rear passenger foot well behind left hand front seat) 🤷‍♂

The lessons to be learned from this: 1- Never buy a car where the spare wheel is under the car. 2- Never buy a Peugeot. It is not a car, it is a collection of cheap car parts that some strange thinking engineers have put together.
