Today also 1 valve placed together with the repaired / cleaned / working vent bellows. The polluted diesel stopped working the valves. And they last longer together behind the filter. And that was before I saw your video. After 3 years of struggling thinking about diesel plague, today the tank float out, no diesel plague but many tiny pieces of rubber. Probably the last placed pipes at the bottom that are probably bad, one of the umpteenth previous repairs that did not help (building your system: injectors, pump, pipes, etc) Tomorrow I know more, with lock down I now have more time. But keep yourself healthy.

My mam and stepdad have a 2004 Citroen Berlingo which has the same 1.9 diesel engine as this one (with the manual prime pump) ... for ages now we've been trying to solve this problem where the fuel is returning and there's a massive air lock in the pipes. This non-return valve is what's missing so I'm really glad I've found your video on what to do with this. The only worry I have is that the air lock on their engine seems to go all the way back to the fuel tank, as I can't see ANY fuel at all in the fuel lines (the tank itself is about half full). If I were to install this non-return valve in the same place as what you've done here, and then just continuously prime the pump, will the fuel eventually come back through? I'm concerned that they've left the car alone for weeks and the entire fuel line is full of air. Sorry for commenting on an old video... but finding a solution to this issue is hard, probably because these cars are 20+ years old now. Cheers.

I've always primed a diesel with the ignition switched on to open the shutoff solenoid valve so that fuel will actually flow into the pump instead of just pushing against the closed valve.

After putting in the valve and priming, wound the air bubble in the line need to be bled from the pump? I'm almost certain this is the issue I've got so am going to give this a try.

@aaanton11 update/ reply. I did this last night. Checked over for any leakage but couldn't see any signs. There was still air in the pipe between the filter and pump so I cracked the inlet nut and primed and bubble, pushed the air out of the line and I haven't seen it return. Car started up first time this morning so hopefully this has somewhat solved my issue!

I have an air leak into the diesel on a Peugeot 207 1.4 HDI. This car doesn’t have a fuel pump in the fuel tank it has a high-pressure pump elsewhere should I fit the 1-way valve between the fuel filter and the fuel tank or the fuel filter and the high-pressure pump, thank you for any advice given.

99% of air leaks come from the filter housing, I would fit the 1 way valve just before the fuel filter in the pipe that comes from the tank, this will stop tracking back and solve your issue, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Hi aanton11. Thanks for great video. I have a problem with my Peugeout Partner 1.9 2002. Please help me! I have noticed that smell of fuel in the car. I have investigated the engine and I realised that the pipe in fuel filter is leaked and fuel was leaped to the engine parts. I shortened the pipe and stick it to filter. Then, the car started to give white smoge and increase the rpm to 5-6. It was DIESEL RUNAWAY. I stopped car but, the engine stopped 20-30 seconds later. And the car discharged 0.5 lt engine oil under the car. The oil was new and full, not much from how much it must be.

Nightmare, there is a high probability that your engine might be damaged, when they runaway its usually a turbo issue, (oil ingress) or the engine oil overfull, but they will keep going until the oil is gone by which time the bearings are damaged. all you can do is top up the oil and see if it runs then do some investigating, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠

Yours is the older model i realized that when i seen the throttle body u dont have the plug with 3 wires on top. I dont full under how that works i think its something to do with electronic injections?

Just did my Berlingo 2002 the diesel return fuel pipe (the first one was split) that is under the the cover are inner diameter 3mm I replaced all mine while I was there, save nay issues latter. Just wait now to see if that has worked, let it stand nose up for 6 hours Cheers 7 hours latter it started, phew

Hey! Just the other day my Peugeot 206 1.9d 1998 had the same problem and my mechanic did exactly the same thing you did. Removed the mainfold, replaced a small pipe who was wet and put in a non return valve and the car just wouldn't start. He then removed the valve and the car was working again. However, a week has passed and it's the car takes 5-10 seconds of cranking to start. It's not the battery or the starter, what else could it be? Bad spark plugs?

Mate Mine probably has the same issue But it’s remote key also doesn’t work to even unlock the car with the remote Should I get the remote checked first or go for this? I inserted a new battery for the remote but still it doesn’t work

I'm presuming this is a non-HDI engine? Got a HDi which is failing to start. If I floor the pedal it will kind of fire but not stay on. Previously it started easily when warm but took 2 to 3 cranks when cold. Now all the cranking in the world won't start it.

@@aaanton11 It's what I'm going to check for. These HDis also have issues with fuel pumps but that usually means no firing at all. So will go down the air leak route. But not the best weather for it!

hi, im having the same problem. air ingress from the fuel filter. my car is a ford 1.4 tdci. the engine is made by peugeot. I've changed everything from the fuel filter to the priming bulb assembly and the fuel filter to high pressure pump lines but the problem still persists. I've attached all clear pipes to see from where the air is getting in and found out the diesel filter to be the culprit. so, removed the filter assembly and pressure tested it to 25psi and found no leaks. there is no air from the tank to the fuel filter but air bubbles come out from the fuel filter and the engine stutters a lot. any suggestions? thanks!!

If you have traced the air ingress to the filter it’s got to be the connectors at the filter, the small orings might be leaking or the filter housing, you can bypass the filter to see if it cures the issue if it does replace it👍🏻👍🏻Thanks for the comments 👍🏻👍🏻

aaanton11 thanks for taking time to reply👍🏼👍🏼.I bypassed the fuel filter and there is absolutely no air ingress. But I used the original connectors only. So it means the connectors don’t have any leaks. Is it okay if I add an external lift pump like the HEP 02a. Thanks !

I have had it in the past where a fuel line near the tank had been rubbing, it didn’t leak diesel but it allowed air in, very hard to find, eventually it got worse and I was able to track it, you might have something similar 👍🏻

@@aaanton11 Yes it has 4 new glow plugs too. Glow Plug Relay or Diesel stop valve maybe but will have to get the garage onto it now.. Thanks for the advise.

Check the main power wire into the glow plug relay which is located on the nearside inner wing these are known to have a poor connection make sure you check for 12 V when you turn the ignition on you will probably find that the 12 V feed disappears, this would give you the exact fault you have.👍🏻
