Peugeot vivacity Scooter fixing a Transmission / clutch Problem motorcycle maintenance

Out for a ride and the bike just stopped . After a long push home its time to investigate the cause .

My moped (Viva city 2001) consumes a lot of fuel, what should I do?

Well two especially when restricted are quite thirsty Derestricting the variety pulley would up the gearing a little I expect you are basically full throttle everywhere and even a small engine isn’t very efficient if it’s flat out all the time Ours was derestricted and had a different exhaust so at 30 the throttle was only half open, it’s the problem with mopeds really Too slow and not even efficient when restricted

My moped (Peugeot vivacity) starts and switches off correctly (almost). The display on the moped never switches off, however, the engine does and all the other electricals (headlights, horn, indicators). This issue also led to the speedometer not working as well. Any advice on what could be the issue? I'm not experienced in anyways to handle this problem. Please guide me.

Hmm It isn’t likely to be the switch , but you never know. More likely to be a short circuit . It’s often caused by when the insulation wears through and contacts the metal frame . These sort of issues happen on older bikes as the Wiring gets brittle and tatty, with those sort of problems the simplest thing is to replace the suspect wires .Trouble is it’s a scooter and there’s lots of plastic.it’s not difficult to remove but takes a while

This exact problem happened to me yesterday however i didnt reslly understand what fixed it for you. I took apart the clutch and didnt see anything weird. It makes a really horrible sound and i dont know how to fix it

Well it was the big nut on the clutch that worked loose on the video Bad noise often rollers

@@bikerdood1100 I screwed the big nut tight but when i place the wingbell it does not spin really freely, when i turn the engine on it makes horrible noise from the clutch.

My moped, after riding for 5 minutes, takes a lot of force before taking speed again. For example, if I stop at a traffic signal for a while and give acceleration, it takes a few seconds before moving again. What could be the issue? Could it be a dirty carburetor or something else?

Could be fuel Or likely very worn rollers and belt

@@bikerdood1100 Do you know how much a roller normally costs for this? I had a full tank Euro 95 fuel with oil level also up to the mark.

@@bikerdood1100 Also can you please show me picture of a roller, i am still new to using these scooter... i would like to know how much the fixing can cost me. i alredy spent around 180 euros with not much success except some of the other minor fixes.

@@junaidaslam1 I don’t know exactly. But they are not expensive , a change of spark plug may help too

Well the one in the video was owned by us for 20 years without problems. All about the maintenance.

Well Peugeot don’t make their own bikes anymore, they closed their factory in France and buy scooters in from China. I believe the quality isn’t what it was as a result of cost cutting. So the same old story really to be honest I don’t think the build quality of the major Japanese companies is where it use to be either, so the fact that newer bikes aren’t so good unfortunately doesn’t surprise me
