to me it's so funny how ppl like sorsha and freelee act like they've never eaten meat or dairy and judge everyone else for not being vegan or going vegan when I'm sure they took their time transitioning too

so little No, there's something called freedom of expression. Let her say what she wants, it's her choice. She's trying to help the vegans like her , not to get people to like her. ***** No dude, she's not trying to convert anyone. She's actually saying that the way vegans are shoving their thoughts is wrong. When someone is interested will do the research themselves. I, myself respect her choice.

Fashion Nation thing is to a non rabbit vegan you are fine and it is not my job to tell you what to eat and if you are a nice person and wanted to be friends we could be friends you can eat what you eat and I can eat what I eat. it's food not rocket science. +Clyde Cash youre right, it's silly to expect every vegan to become a full time militant activist. there's nothing wrong with working a regular job, living vegan and sharing the message with only friends and family. not everyone is mentally equipped to deal with spending all their time trying to get strangers to make radical lifestyle changes, tackling sensitive issues and engaging in debates and arguments that are almost always fairly taxing.

Thank you for your level-headed approach! Vegans like Sorcha and Freelee put me off veganism for years. However, Jenna Marbles showed veganism in a really positive light (in my opinion) in her vlogs. She made it seem easy and like something I really wanted to do. I tried it, and while this time it didn't stick, I am hoping to one day succeed in staying vegan. I feel it's a really positive thing to do, but I really don't like Sorcha and Freelee's approach as it's really negative.

Bro army here... Not a vegan but I really enjoyed this video. Gonna try that no meat Monday thing. Thank you from all us meat-eaters out there for you'r well thought out video. When it comes down to it most of us are aware that Sosha is doing this to piggy back on Pewdiepie's views. She thought that by stirring the pot she could have more people see it. Its sad that her message came across so negative for vegans.

I think the fact that most of these angry vegan KZbinrs are causing drama within the community to make more money isn't helping, either. They're causing drama for selfish monetary reasons, not for the sake of animals.

Ya'll don't know the mechanics of YT. Believe me - if they could simply state facts and get people to stop being animal abusers, they would. But that isn't how you get people to watch your shit. If you want a bunch of pewdiepie fans to see your vid, you gotta trash pewdiepie. Don't like it either, but that is YT for you. That said, Sorsha's vid WAS pure garbage (uninformative).
@lazydaisyfelines
@lazydaisyfelines 8 жыл бұрын
I don't believe that just because KZbinrs are getting views that people are actually listening to or buying their message about veganism. And those vidbloggers are getting paid for those views, so I don't buy that they "have" to do it for the sake of veganism. The actual ratio of people who might try it could be much less than from those bloggers who aren't spewing hate about everyone, even if they do have more views.
@veganactive3504
@veganactive3504 8 жыл бұрын
Roswenthe Well yeah, obviously there is no direct conversion between view and vegan. Just saying, that is the ONLY form of vegan activism that reaches the crowds that don't actively search for vegan related content. And I'll take it, for those people are far more numerous than those who are already interested. Gains for example reaches the meattarded crowds of bodybuilding quite effectively and his message is always on point. The drawback is that he has to trash their idol to get their attention. And if you've ever tried talking to someone IRL with various approaches, you'll know the feedback is largely unaffected by approach, so there is no critisism to be made against the "aggressive/truthful/straight to the point" approach compared to being a passivist. As for the money - everyone needs it, even youtubers. They are getting payed at approx. 0.2% (2€ per 1000 views). If it seems like a dream thing to you, go ahead and earn the cash here. You'll learn its harder then it looks.

I'm not gonna lie, I went vegan initially over a year ago because of freelee , but her diet plan caused me to gain so much weight. I was so depressed. It took me over 6 months to lose the weight on her program and I started eating animal products (not meat) again cause I thought veganism was impossible. Her words are so demanding and I didn't do enough research into what is actually true about the body and just listened to freelee. I looked more into veganism this time around but this time with a different approach. I looked for something that was sustainable and cheap for me as a college student. People like you, mommytang, Briannajackfruitson, fullyrawkristina, channon rose, tana mongeau, and others who had a happy look on veganism and said eat things you like, are nutritious, simple, and be happy were the ones that helped me to stay vegan this time around. I have been vegan for just 3.5 months and literally so different from the first time around. I am happy and satisfied. Also my family members understand it now because before they couldn't understand why I was on a "healthy lifestyle" but gained weight and was tired all the time. I am full of energy and walking proof that veganism is the best thing every and again I am just 3.5 months in. My acne is better. My digestive issues are gone. Also, weirdly enough my eyesight has gotten better based on my optometry visit a week ago. My waist is back to my high school size. Greatest lifestyle ever. Happy activism is the best kind. It allows people to make their own decisions and research what will work for them.

I totally agree with you. When I started looking into veganism I also found freelee and her older videos were but when I started to get into the ones where she was calling out other people and just passing horrible judgement that I am against especially vegans who didn't start off vegans from childhood and also have fake boobs but still pass judgement I have a problem with. The I saw the video where she said that people who eat meat should be killed or be forced to vegan, sounded like a dictator to me. Then almost every vegan I watched had this view point so I ran the other direction because I don't want to be apart of something like that or maybe turn into someone like that. That's when I found fullyrawkristina(whom freelee and Drider don't like and practically say they "made her") ,thevegancheetah, getupsetgirls,the bluewren, and joevegan. It was so refreshing to see and hear normal people.

+Purrminator one major difference I see between those two is that UV doesn't want to make it look like veganism is only for the privileged few. She said so in the $20 a day video. But a privileged vegan pushes the idea that veganism is for the privileged. She puts it like "veganism isn't only for the privileged, but we have to look at ourselves and see how privileged we are, simply having a grocery store and accessing beans, rice, and potatoes when you're poor means you're still a white privileged vegan because you can access rice... Check your privilege!" This gives people of colour watching the idea that they're a victim and too under privileged to be a vegan. Furthers the stereotype that veganism is a white thing (not taking into account that white people make up the vast majority of the population so any group can coincidentally be mostly white and maybe most people who care about animals happen to be white but it has no causal link). She swallows SJW bullshit.

Hey, vegans, how about you try, once a month, invite a meet eater to dinner day? Showcase delicious vegan recipes, and show its not the case that you have to suffer to end suffering.I'm a meat eater, and I can tell you that I would be far more responsive to an invite than an order, or being encouraged rather than shamed.I have no intention of becoming vegan, or even vegetarian, but I'm always open to discovering other peoples way of thinking and living.the moment ALL vegans realise that just because a person eats meat, just like people have for millennia, that doesn't mean we are bad people, just like not all vegans are.........well, Sorsha.

I've had potlucks at work and I sometimes bring vegan food for meat-eaters at family dinners. They all still eat meat. I've even gotten them to sit down to watch documentaries & them vowing to change, only to see them buy KFC the next week. Ppl nowadays have a short attention span. Logic and a fun meal aren't as impressionable as tough love. Sometimes we're so conditioned to behave as we do, that we need to be shaken to our very core, and consistently so to undo years of cultural inculcation. So I embrace all forms of activism, even the harsh kind bc the truth is as much as I used to despise Freelee, I can now respect her impact. Gary Yourofsky also left a bad taste in my mouth, but he's the reason Israel has the highest population of vegans. It took me time to finally admit, but we need ALL forms of activism. One is not superior to another bc every individual is different in what message they're most likely to respond to. Different strokes for different folks.

YourMajesty143 "I've had potlucks at work and I sometimes bring vegan food for meat-eaters at family dinners. They all still eat meat" What did you expect? If you brung in vegan food, are they suppose to automatically assume that they only have to eat it? "I've even gotten them to sit down to watch documentaries & them vowing to change, only to see them buy KFC the next week" This indicates that they're not willing to change which means that if they were shown a stereotype vegan, they would probably hate veganism and still not change. It's better to let them eat meat rather than have them eat meat even more and hate veganism at the same time. "Sometimes we're so conditioned to behave as we do, that we need to be shaken to our very core, and consistently so to undo years of cultural inculcation" And look at what happened? Being shaken to our very core has turned thousands of meat eaters against vegans. "we need ALL forms of activism" No we don't, it's not necessary to yell at a meat eater and it would only screw up the situation even more. Being kind to a meat eater is much more superior than others (besides telling them facts of course, those are equal).
@YourMajesty143
@YourMajesty143 6 жыл бұрын
ThePixelSharkGamer2000 You're assuming I push my Veganism on anyone. I bring vegan food to potlucks so that I have something to eat, and I have enough to share bc that's what a potluck is about. I was simply pointing out that just giving food isn't enough, ppl need context. Tough love does not mean being an asshole. Being passionate does not mean being an asshole. You can be assertive without being aggressive. And sometimes it helps to call ppl out on their bullshit when you know they're just making excuses. I remember watching a trailer for a documentary & my mom was intrigued so she had me put a few of them on. Also a co-worker asked for videos to help reverse her diabetes. My best friend also was curious & asked to look into it. I was the one propositioned, not the other way around. And despite showing them these things & them admitting that they needed to change, they still reverted to old habits. That's how strong cognitive dissonance is & how hard it is to break a history of inculcated beliefs & habits. Some ppl like the in-your-face, tell-it-like-it-is manner. Just look at who ppl voted for president! Some ppl like someone who's not afraid to just tell the truth, even if it hurts. And even when it's not the truth apparently, bc tbh Trump is really just admired bc ppl like a character that appears authentic & not "fake nice". Now I'm too passive-aggressive to ever be mean or pushy, but sometimes I wish I did have the guts to call ppl out on their excuses. Ppl want to hear that their bad habits are validated, bc then they don't have to change. Compare the amount of ppl who became vegan as a result of Freelee and Gary Yourofsky vs ppl like UV. I never liked Freelee or Gary's style bc it conflicts with my comfort zone, however I'm honest enough with myself to at least concede that their strategy absolutely works. We don't like to admit that bc it means we give permission for ppl to be assholes, but I think to myself "the animals won't care how we get it done, so long as it gets results & saves their lives". While I can appreciate you thinking the reason for my loved ones not changing is bc they're around "Vegan assholes", I hate to burst your bubble but I'm the only vegan they know. And I'm known as the sweetest, most patient girl (I have to be, I work with the elderly). The problem is I'm an enabler, I can admit that. I suck at making ppl feel bad for their behavior. But we SHOULD feel bad, bc it's not ok. Killing will in no way ever be considered ok while full well knowing that these animals experience fear and make efforts to escape on their way to the slaughterhouse. You can see them, hear them, and even sense their trepidation. Yet despite knowing this, I still can't bring myself to do more for them bc I'm scared of the stigma. I feel so foolish typing that out. I wonder if slavery abolitionists and feminists fighting for women's rights worried about stigma when they fought for their cause. We can shoot the messenger all day, it will never invalidate the message. Being an activist is about raising your voice above the noise of the opposition, and speaking on behalf of those who are voiceless & powerless. It's easy to think that Vegans are extremists, but they're only reacting to the extreme nature of the animal genocide. It becomes less hostile when you look at the hostility of its relative counterpart. Talking smack should never be admonished bc it pales in comparison to the wailing and crying of the victims. If Vegans shout or yell, then I have to remind myself that they're justified in doing so. Protests have always been loud & angry, while also peaceful & passive. Both methods have worked in our history of human progress. Veganism is no exclusion.
@pikira2246
@pikira2246 6 жыл бұрын
YourMajesty143 Note: I'm sorry if I myself am being an asshole. I'm working on it. If you see a sentence where I'm rude, I apologize and I didn't mean it. "I was simply pointing out that just giving food isn't enough, ppl need context" I can guarantee you that doing that is a much more effective way than yelling at someone in the face. "And sometimes it helps to call ppl out on their bullshit when you know they're just making excuses" Yeah but vegans don't have insult them in the process or demand that they go vegan or any other bullshit. If you're going to call someone out, don't explode on them while doing so. "And despite showing them these things & them admitting that they needed to change, they still reverted to old habits. That's how strong cognitive dissonance is & how hard it is to break a history of inculcated beliefs & habits." If facts didn't make them vegan then what makes you think yelling in their face will. If facts fail to make someone change than just stop because yelling at them will only piss them off. If they don't want to go vegan, then they're not going to go vegan. "Some ppl like the in-your-face, tell-it-like-it-is manner" I can guarantee that nobody likes it when they're yelled at, if I were to yell at a vegan that they're stupid for driving a car because it causes Global Warming then they're sure as hell going to yell at me back instead saying "Oh, thank you for helping me realize my mistake by rudely getting into my face". "Just look at who ppl voted for president! Some ppl like someone who's not afraid to just tell the truth, even if it hurts. And even when it's not the truth apparently, bc tbh Trump is really just admired bc ppl like a character that appears authentic & not 'fake nice'. " Most of trump's voters are dumbasses who likes seeing Trump insult people. Besides, Trump wasn't insulting them which was another reason why they accepted his speeches. Not only that, a lot of people chose trump because they dislike Hillary and rather choose him over her. I can name numerous reasons why Trump became president and how it's nothing like veganism but I believe you get the idea. "Now I'm too passive-aggressive to ever be mean or pushy, but sometimes I wish I did have the guts to call ppl out on their excuses" Keep that, you'll have a higher chance of turning meat eaters into vegans if you're not being an asshole. Trust me. "Ppl want to hear that their bad habits are validated, bc then they don't have to change" No, people don't want to change because a group of Extremist is yelling at them and telling that they're stupid and shit. "Compare the amount of ppl who became vegan as a result of Freelee and Gary Yourofsky vs ppl like UV." Compare the amount of meat eaters that started hating Veganism as a result of Freelee and Gary Yourofsky vs ppl like UV. Also, the reason people became vegan weren't because Gary yelled at them, but because he gave facts about the industry. Not only that, UV isn't as well known as Gary. If UV gave more facts and is much more well know then you would see a big difference in the vegan count. "I hate to burst your bubble but I'm the only vegan they know. And I'm known as the sweetest, most patient girl" The fact that you wished to call people out on their excuses makes me think otherwise if you're that patient but I'll believe you. "The problem is I'm an enabler, I can admit that. I suck at making ppl feel bad for their behavior" Then you have a higher chance of making people go vegan. "But we SHOULD feel bad, bc it's not ok. Killing will in no way ever be considered ok while full well knowing that these animals experience fear and make efforts to escape on their way to the slaughterhouse. You can see them, hear them, and even sense their trepidation'" The problem is that meat eaters don't care. Why? Because a bunch of extremist are yelling at them. The reason meat eaters don't care about animals are because of vegans. You see, when you yell at a meat eater, they're going to care about animals less and less. Say you have a child who wants to help animals and would do anything to save one little baby mouse. Put that child in a room with a vegan and uh oh, that child wants to slaughter a cow. Vegans are making meat eaters hate animals rather than feel compassion for them when you yell at them. Yelling at a meat eater would only worsen the situation." I wonder if slavery abolitionists and feminists fighting for women's rights worried about stigma when they fought for their cause" If Abolitionist yell at slave owners than they're making the same mistake as vegans as they would only piss them off. Also, feminism is stupid (mostly because woman already have equal rights [I really don't want to get into context]). "Being an activist is about raising your voice above the noise of the opposition, and speaking on behalf of those who are voiceless & powerless" Well activism is killing animals considering it pisses meat eaters off and influences them to eat more meat ssooo yeah. I think inviting a meat eater is much more effective. "It's easy to think that Vegans are extremists" Because they are extremist, they would yell at anyone who disagrees with them and call them dumbasses and inferior (even other vegans). "Talking smack should never be admonished bc it pales in comparison to the wailing and crying of the victims" The problem is that meat eaters don't care about animals and talking smack will only screw up the message that vegans are trying to show. Unless you show compassion to a meat eater, meat eaters aren't going to show compassion to animals. "If Vegans shout or yell, then I have to remind myself that they're justified in doing so" So they're justified to piss whoever they want off which makes people eat more meat? "Protests have always been loud & angry, while also peaceful & passive. Both methods have worked in our history of human progress. Veganism is no exclusion." Veganism IS an exclusion. Just because something worked in the past doesn't mean it's going to work now. So this is why I think that vegans shouldn't yell at meat eaters. To clear things up, a meat eater doesn't like it when they're insulted like ny other person. When a vegan yells at them, they get upset and start ignoring the message and start think illogically. After that, they would start eating meat but not because of satisfaction, but because of spite and anger. But when UV started to come along, meat eaters started to think about going vegan as she was so kind. If you're kind to a meat eater than they will listen to you. You have to gain a meat eater's trust. The most effective way I've seen to gain their trust was to defned them from another vegan (trust me, it always works). After that, you could say anything about veganism and they'll trust. Like literally, if you say "veganism is stupid" and the other vegan who yelled at them gave a list of reasons why you should go vegan, you would have a higher chance of making a meat eater go vegan and I'm not even joking. You would literally have a higher chance. What do you think?

Eisel is a fake intellectual who is scathingly envious of Unnatural Vegan. Unlike a true intellectual, he is incapable of debating people without freaking out and resorting to personal insults (like saying she is "beyond contempt", a direct quote). He has also vastly misrepresented his self-proclaimed linguistic prowess, and when someone offers constructive criticism, he responds with childish insults despite the fact that a man of his many, many years ought to know better by now. We all make mistakes; but true intellectuals learn and move on; they don't try to "kill the messenger".

Glad I'm not the only one who was disturbed by Sorsha's approach. I've been vegan for over 2 yrs. but my boyfriend is a junk food omnivore. Since the time I went vegan I got him to cut out dairy milk and switch to almond milk, use vegan butter only, vegan mayo only. and "cage free/free range" eggs (so far)...though the so called "free range" eggs are often still a nightmare for animals. I got him to switch one by one. More manageable/less stressful for him, and he feels good about being able to help without getting overwhelmed. Seeing me enjoy large fruit meals has also been inspiring him to try it as of late.

Veganism doesn't "stop animal suffering", just reduces it to a minimimum, wich is awesome. But I think it's a mistake to make the division between vegan/non vegan as: the most ethical thing ever/ not ethical at all. We are all hurting animals, even if you are the most vegan person on earth and you don't consume palm oil, or sugar (both products lead to masive deforestation and hurt the animals) and buy all your clothes from non-exploitation production etc etc. I think what makes many people to not even try to be ethical at all is to have horrible standards pushed on them (you are never going to do it well enough for certain people). It may be much more useful for the animals to convince people to reduce as much as they can their meat and animal products consumption than to bash them because "oh my god, they eat ecological really well treated hens eggs, they are just as bad as any person eating meat every day!!!". Putting everything in terms of black or white isn't accurate nor good for the animals.
@veganactive3504
@veganactive3504 8 жыл бұрын
Alba Cronopio Ganímedes Veganism stops *intentional and desired* animal suffering. It stops animals from being viewed as *products* but rather as equal, sentient beings. There is a clear distinction between a vegan and a nonvegan. The fact that everything one ever does (Taking a stroll in the woods - crushed ants. Gardening - killed worms. Olive oil production - squirrel habitat destroyed, etc) interacts with other animals is largely irrelevant, because it is to some degree unavoidable. To make the mistake of equating the avoidable/intentional/desired forms of suffering (organic eggs) and the unavoidable/unintentional (accidentally eating a worm inside of a cherry) is to make a huge disservice to the cause of animal liberation, and is an "exercise in futility" fallacy that serves no purpose. There is nothing extreme about promoting nonviolence (true veganism), promote (and do) nothing less.

No one appreciates having someone shout at them condescendingly and trying to force them into changing their lifestyle. These big vegan channels are just turning more people away from veganism than they are bringing any into it, plus they reinforce this stigma of us being insane.. The fact of the matter is, people will always respond positively when they are not being forced into something. My family has always eaten way more meat than vegetables and fruit, and my youngest sister has had a bad view on veganism as she's seen the crazies of us on youtube. When I've told them I've chosen to be vegan, their response to that was immediately negative and ridiculing. Fast forward 5 months of which I just minded my own business and made some delicious vegan meals for the whole family every now and then, now my youngest sister has also chosen to become vegan and my family has been eating significantly less meat. And all I had to do was just be a good, healthy example.. It's just so aggravating that Sorsha and Freelee and their likes don't see the negative impact they're having, or maybe they do see it but just dont care

I don't think Pewdiepie's reaction to Sorsha's video should be considered representative of the general public's reaction to militant vegans. Pewdiepie is clearly unhinged. A sane individual, when alerted to a 13 month old video gathering dust on a relatively tiny channel, in which someone criticizes him for not being more socially conscious would either think, "yeah, she's right" and change his ways, or "No, she's wrong" and forget about it. But not Pewdiepie. No, he reacts in the time honored style of the bully, ridiculing Sorsha in a response video for his 47 million subscribers. Large numbers of those subscribers saw the video as a call for harassing Sorsha. Pewdiepie did not delete, as a responsible channel owner would, a subscriber's comment expressly calling for an attack on all of Sorsha's social media accounts. Nor did he try to dissuade his mouth breathing minions from joining such an attack. His was visibly pissed off when Sorsha understated the number of his subscribers. He did not react only to Sorsha's long forgotten video, but combed through her more recent videos for images he could take out of context for humorous effect. I don't know why Pewdiepie felt so threatened by Sorsha's itty bitty account, but I can see no other explanation for his video, a sledge hammer to swat a mosquito.
@harhccha
@harhccha 8 жыл бұрын
I watched the same video you did, and based on your response I think you're generally unfamiliar with Pewdiepie's style of delivery. He exaggerates his emotions for comedic effect. What I do somewhat agree with is that he could have exercised more discretion on knowingly sending his vocal subscriber base to Sorsha's channel, only to have pretty much all of her recent videos' likes be dwarfed by dislikes. At the same time, in all of his jocular delivery, Pewdiepie was genuinely annoyed at being accused of not having made any meaningful contribution to society when he's generated over a million dollars to various charities. To discount that entirely in the face of veganism is not a way to gain allies.
@DrGerbils

Honestly a part of me believes that there's an element of recklessness on the actions of Pewdiepie, but at the same time having fewer subscribers affords no protection when all of the information in question is already made public. If Sorsha said what she said through a private communication channel to Pewdiepie and then he made it public after the fact, then there would be a more legitimate call for outrage. Besides, he didn't order his following to trash Sorsha's channel, so it's difficult to simply blame him when his subscribers should be capable of thinking for themselves.

Unremarkable Harry " If Sorsha said what she said through a private communication channel to Pewdiepie and then he made it public after the fact, then there would be a more legitimate call for outrage." The video had been public for 13 months without much of a response. Then it wsa brought to Pewdiepie's attention, and he in turn brought it to the attention of his viewers. At that point it was as a dam had broken. The comment sections of all of Sorsha's videos were spammed with virtually identical comments from dozens of P's viewers, almost as if someone had orchestrated it. "Besides, he didn't order his following to trash Sorsha's channel, so it's difficult to simply blame him when his subscribers should be capable of thinking for themselves." He did nothing to stop it either. He could have deleted the comments on his video that were expressly calling for a campaign of harassment. Or he could have left them up and added a comment of his own condemning the idea. I realize he cannot police his comment sections 24/7, but the initial round of harassment spanned several hours. Later rounds occurred over several days as Sorsha posted new videos.

I totally agree with what you said in this video. I totally agree that there's no real benefit for any sort of activism if it's bossy, guilt-tripping, and negative such as some vegan youtubers. But in a perfect world people would be able to look past someone's approach and look directly at what they're saying and the message. But again, that's a perfect world. I also think that vegans tend to forget that there are lots of things going on in the world. We get so overwhelmed with the horror of factory farming and the damage that animal products are doing to our bodies and the planet and we forget that there's lots of causes that people are fighting for. Not being vegan doesn't make someone a bad person and doesn't mean they aren't trying in there own ways to make a difference or have a positive impact. It's all about information, and empathy. Great video!!

yes! first time I saw a nice and kind vegan on KZbin! yes, Pewds is right, because Sorsha is insulting all of the people who eat meat. I mean like, calling milk drinkers rapists is insulting. take a look at her, she WEARS clothes, right? so the animal population is still under attack(because of the clothes that are mostly made out of animal wool/fur). She never deserves to be here in youtube. that makes you, pewds, and all the other nice vegans(not Sorsha) right. (Sorsha has to respect the rights of people who eat meat and drink milk.)

Not all vegans, just her/him who has bad attitude doesnt respect others difference opinions I love animals but also I eat them 😂😂 it's sad but truth 😂 We should kill animals for food, I mean just kill not kill for fun or getting more money. Actually that's faulty logic unless you can prove with reliable data that she has actually turned thousands of people vegan and that they have stayed vegan for the statistical five years which is a norm when it comes to data that shows someone has remained in a lifestyle. Not to mention the more altruistic someone is the more likely they will over time, change unkind behavior which then has a domino effect in making even more humane wise choices. Thus lasting change not starting a behavior like becoming vegan and not staying vegan.

Qualmify It doesn't matter if it were to work or not, it obviously gave her comfort. i lost my sister to a brain tumor and she believed that "God" would save her. i obviously knew that to be false but that doesn't mean it was my place to tell her god doesn't exist based on my beliefs. If UV cared about taking down the facility she would have promoted that, not the stripping of the only comfort someone had left before they died.

I was widowed at 31. I get it. Please trust me - I really do get it. Even a decade later, grief sometimes pays an unexpected visit and I have to deal with that unwelcome appearance because grief is a mean little bitch who will not leave until she's good and ready and to hell with your schedule and your plans. But we've got to be honest with ourselves, too. Jen didn't die because of UV. She didn't die because of durianrider, either. She died because she had a brutal, unforgiving disease which simply won the battle. Nobody else caused Jen's death and honestly, it's unfair to say that anyone else actually contributed to her death because as hard as it is to accept, it's just not true. It wasn't God's fault, it wasn't her doctor's fault and it sure as hell wasn't her own fault. It wasn't my fault, and it wasn't your fault. It wasn't UV's fault, and -as much as I hate the little douchebag for many many reasons - it wasn't durianrider's fault either. Death happens, and it sucks donkeyballs. We try to assign blame and fault because until we actually come to acceptance (and that doesn't happen overnight ... it doesn't happen in a few days, a few weeks, a few months, either) it's the only thing we *can* do in order to keep plodding along. It's what we do to keep our sanity relatively intact. But ultimately we come to a point where fighting the reality becomes more harmful than it is helpful. Wish you all a measure of peace.

@YuuKamijo
@YuuKamijo 8 жыл бұрын
This has to be a mistake. Swayze didn't call Jen to be a scammer, what she did pointed out was that the Gerson treatment was questionable. She has acknowledged that Jen was sick but she wasn't supportive of the treatment that had no scientific proof.
@InTheNameOfLife1
@InTheNameOfLife1 8 жыл бұрын
+YuuKamijo it wasn't her place to not be supportive of the treatment, it was Jen's last hope. She had exhausted all other efforts so why would someone take it upon themselves to tell others not to support someone's last hope for life? She had a huge hand in stopping those donations. It was not her place.

Jack Harris The point is that it was pointless to take away the only comfort and hope someone had. She was dying either way. Stopping donations to her doesn't do anything to take down the broader issue. She was vulnerable and fell for a scam, doesn't mean she deserved to be stripped of it when it gave her comfort. If UV cared about the facility being taken down she would have continued this discussion after Jen's death. Yet conveniently enough her interest in it died when Jen died.

"bad vegan activism" happens to be what inspired Carli Bybel, Niki and Gabi & so many other youtubers/ influencers with MILLIONS of fans each to go vegan! You have every right not to agree with somebody's way of promoting the vegan message but what is the point of judging them? especially since these people's activism is obviously working! I don't like vegan gains approach but that doesn't mean I should go around criticizing him on the internet. We all have a common goal, which is to end animal exploitation & environmental destruction & to improve human health. Stirring up drama and slandering other vegan activists isn't really helping anyone!

i really get what ur saying, and i dislike sorsha's attitude as much as the next one, but as a fellow vegan, i think you are equally as off-putting as sorsha would be. every single video of yours is titled with clickbait to attract people who think vegans and veganism suck, you explain the logistics of every single drama and subject in a sleepy and mind numbing, unpleasant and unhappy manner, and criticize other vegans. should we be nice and helpful? yes. should we be worrying about stepping on 'eggshells' on the off chance of making a carnist have a hissy fit, while they kill billions of our animal friends yearly and ruin the planet for others? no. the adversion to veganism doesn't come from people like freelee and sorsha, btw. ignorance and mob mentality produce a general dislike for ideas and people who challenge your views or who make YOU YOURSELF realize that you might be doing something wrong. it's a defense mechanism. social justice 101. but if we're talking about veganism in pop culture, then you are just as distasteful and stereotypical as sorsha, in my opinion.

I once owned a shirt that mocked the "meat is murder" slogan. I wasn't a bad person, I was misinformed about nutritional requirements and had a different perspective having grown up in a hunting family. I'm grateful I watched the Nick Cooney speech in my beginning days of veganism because it can be easy to fall into the militant tactics. I learned about the cruelty of the dairy industry a year ago, and nowadays I have replaced almost all of the milk, yogurts etc in my diet with nondairy versions, and don't really buy cheese, fish or anything, if I'm in charge of the groceries. Probably will be easier to live plant-based when I move out to my own apartment. I'm never gonna be perfect, but I am trying! the less I have dairy in my diet, the lighter and better I feel :)

I think there are many of us(yes, it is a part of me still), whose thinking is like Sorshas and I am thankful for people like you, who is trying to make things clear definitely not by attacking. I think if someone attacks people whose thinking is very radical, that makes just bigger agressivity and just strenghtens the anger. It's hard for me to deal with this side of mine, but I can say,as a conclude of this short experience of mine, that this kind of dealing with whatever topic what comes into your life(does not matter why) is much more exciting, than view someone as an enemy. Seems for some of us harder, but time by the time it becomes more exciting and step by step much more clear. Getting to know yourself, that is all about.

Very recognizable. Over the past two years I have been thinking about going vegan a lot, but the sheer amount of bullshit, hate and emotional manipulation that I encounter time and time again when searching for information, make it that I am still not even vegetarian. It puts me off so much. You don't know half how happy I am to finally found you as a vegan advocate; someone who is actually factual, honest and reasonable. Someone who doesn't make me feel like shit for not being vegan a 100%, that acknowledges the amount effort that making changes takes and that understands perfect does not exist, nor is necessary.

Not all vegans are like this. I was vegetarian throughout high school, then vegan, then left due to social pressure from my omnivore friends and family but am thinking about slowly transitioning back into veganism again and I never pushed veganism or vegetarianism on anyone, and decided to make my own morals out of how I personally felt about an animal welfare issue and whether or not it was truly abusive or exploitative. A lot of vegans are so judgy and rude, going so far as to judge even vegans who disagree with them on something, but not everyone is like this.

Your channel continues to help me stay vegan and think a lot about my approach to conversing with others about veganism. There have been many times in the past where I wish I said something, or said something different, but in those moments I knew there were few things I could say that wouldn't risk my time with that person (or friendship with them) becoming strained. I know that the more friends I have while vegan, the better I can lead by example and introduce them to alternatives, and take moments as they come to speak a little more explicitly or intimately. I am getting better at thinking of thoughtful and relatable rebuttals and explanations as to why I have embraced this journey and identity.
