I also don't know, I just remember that every word in English that ends with "th" pronounced as "zu" in japanese. For example, "death" become "dezu", and like this "earth" become "azu". I'm not really sure since I'm a self taught, I just noticed it myself, so I don't know the reason behind it.

it's actually not 'zu' but 'su' and since earth is pronounced 'assu' with the U at the end being a bit silent it looks like he does say 'ass' instead.

"th" that are pronounced thick like how you'd pronounce "the" and "them" are Z in japanese. "th" that are pronounced soft like "earth" and "thorn" are S in Japanese.

@@ken8771 it's because of the adaptation of english phonetics into japanese. A closed ending syllable becomes open by adding a "o" or "u" vowel at the end. ズ is indeed read "zu"

This reminds me of one time at work a woman came up to me and asked for something but i couldnt hear her cause of her soft quiet voice. I legit thought she said she was looking for fatties. So i repeated and she said yes and i was so confused.
