it's funny how "poor" has a different meaning for each person depending on their culture. I'm brazilian and poorness has a whole other meaning here. As a point where poor means barely having a place to call home.

I think that’s for everyone- these people are just super out of touch. They think of it as being pitiful, which poor is a financial state.
@Gwyllgi

These people are probably from the West/East coast, or major cities. Where I'm from, Arkansas, there are places where there are shacks with dirt floors. You have to remember that a single state is the size of a country.
@RominaBentos
@RominaBentos 4 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing. In my country it means you live in the streets, you rely on others to get something to eat. I've seen some people in the internet say they are broke, while they have a home, food, a family, the possibility to do things just for fun, but they say it because idk they can't buy a car or another house by themselves

I've seen his phase when media start showing too much attention on him... suddenly he dyed his hair white and starts being bold in controversial topics... starts talking with cardboard figurines, ffs... his restlessness those days was so obvious, as well as his happier times, like half year ago, his minecraft series and marriage... when I start thinking love doesn't exist, I remember this couple.

So...I was a kid who grew up on food stamps living in subsidized housing who got school vouchers and was a kid who benefited from those toy drives they have every Christmas for the poor kids. I am also someone who moved up significantly in socioeconomic status in adulthood. I fully believe that I need to pay more taxes because I know what it is like to personally benefit from those programs. If it helps to send another kid get basic meals so they can concentrate in their classes or a family to get heating during the winter or to help an elderly person with transportation to their doctors appointments, I am beyond happy to help and grateful for what was freely given to me. I feel that is part of my duty as an American citizen

I think that one guy talking about paying for a surgery to save someone's life hit the nail on the head. Sure happiness comes from within but like it's hard to be happy if you don't have enough money to buy a safe stable secure situation where you're not worried about being able to afford food, shelter, transport, doctors, and medicine for yourself and anyone dependent on you for their livelihood as well.

Thisssss was the comment I was looking for thank you. Like sure money isn’t everything and there are things that matter more. But it’s a fucking necessity and when you don’t have it, surviving literally becomes a problem- THE problem- the one you have to pour most of your attention to bc you literally need it to survive. And when you do have it, that at least gets it out of the way so that you can focus on the “more important” things.

These definitions are typical in investment books, I'll explain. Broke = out of money Poor is a state of mind + lack of money The saying goes that you can get broke multiple times, but you always know how to get out of there. Poor is when you accept that you will be broke forever and don't work on changing your situation. Making money is about productivity of your time, and turning your money into making more money. Meanwhile people that are Poor waste the little money they have in things that perish or depreciate.

I don't think he is an asshole for wanting to experience something he hasn't, even with other people saying they hate it. @@GameDogLeader21 ... if your definition of happiness is in the “journey” like it is for some people. If you constantly don’t have enough money to buy food, go out, etc. money WILL make your life better. It’s easy to have the whole “True happiness doesn’t come from money” approach when you’ve never seriously had to wonder where your next meal will come from, unlike Felix’s experience, where he COULD’VE gone to his parents. Chances are you’ve never been homeless or food insecure before either. However, I digress, because happiness is ultimately a state of mind. Some things make literally everyone happy (sex, food, etc.) and others are split (pineapple pizza, Rick and Morty). It’s an opinionated topic for sure, but (and this is really controversial) for a majority of people money, even just a little money will make them happy, because it can buy things that make everyone universally happy. It’s laughable to think otherwise.

@@joshuadorsam4619 well its hard to be content without your necessities, but i see happiness as something different. Hey, what you're doing is spitting on their imagine after looking through the yearbook. One picture for each year is... Very little to go on to make that alligation. You weren't in the class. And you certainly aren't the person looking back in the book and remembering that whole year. I could be wrong in saying all that, because I'm sure you didn't mean to generalize what you said so massively. All you did was connect two dots, and then erase them. So correct me if I'm wrong. I agree with that idea, I've always believed money cant directly buy happiness, but if you have money you don't have the stresses which make you worried and unhappy,like worrying about rent, food, gas, bills, vehicles, etc. Sure there is a stress coming with managing money, but it's not base stresses like survival.

A lot of people say that kind of stuff, but at the end of the day, being rich doesn’t change your depression. Because it’s a mental illness. I thought poor meant not having a lot of money. Apparently, according to them, poor means being unhappy...

I think they high fives for just being on the same side. And in my opinion poor is more of a mindset. I was broke my entire youth but wasn’t “poor”. I didn’t feel sad for myself. I worked hard and got myself where I am today. But that’s just my 2 cents

SteelRain007 If you had no money and we’re homeless or lived in projects you were poor. Being broke is just not having money.

Well well well. We meet again, impulsive first impression opinion of a 14 year old. You have NO idea why they were doing that. You can use context clues, yes. But have you never been told to think carefully about what you want to say before you say it? If you don't mind, I'd like to ask you to sit down, re-watch the video, and look at that clip in a different light instead of that dim, edgy, blood red emo one. Maybe try something more... Intellectual... Optimistic, considerate, or perhaps even non judgemental. It just might do you a world of good. Hopefully it even teaches you a little lesson.

Having parents that stay togeather is "statisticaly" the number 1 determining factor in determining wealth in later life. There are many other factors as well but obviously the biggest factor is the persons drive and determination so even if you are statistically sopposed to end up wealthy you can still end up a bum on the street and the other way around.
