I have European heritage and I love to bead. David Dean was one of my instructors and he said that as a non native I should never say that I did peyote because that belongs to items beaded for the Native American (peyote) Church. So I do gourd stitch items and represent them as such when people ask about them. I am somewhat surprised by the vehemence of some of the statements because unless Native American beaders are only using quills and other natural materials the are using seed beads which were a European product introduced after contact. Of course non Native beaders should not represent their work as Native but Native beaders should be proud that their work is being appreciated so much that others want to learn how to use the techniques. I have also taken a class on the raised beadwork done in the Niagra area, again from a Native instructor. I also do kumihimo (Japanese) beading. Please, as beaders let's appreciate and have respect for each other's cultures and skills. cultures. There is enough division in the world

So,let me get this straight. Because this person doesn't look Indian but is married to one,he's still isn't good enough to do this video or videos? I'm half Iroquois/Mohawk (Canadian Band) but have blonde hair and blue eyes.Because of this,I've been called a lier or fake Indian when I went to the Pow Wows in the past.I stopped going at 25 because I would be abused by Full Blooded Indians and told to either get lost or called names. I can't help if most of my people married white or other races. But I'm pretty sure my ancestors are rolling over in their graves and shaking their heads have We Learned Nothing From The Past? Sorry, just had to reply to this....

And how do you know he's fully white? Forget that he's married to an Indigenous woman... Let's pretend we know nothing about him. There are tons of Natives out there who are white-coded. It's not like claims he's descended from a Cherokee princess.

I like your statement. My grandmother was full Cherokee . I look more like my Italian mother and grandmother ....her mom....

those of you that think that beading is an exclusive art to the native americans, you should probably go and do yourselves a bit of research.
