I guess compared to nowadays, that time was glory days. Pruitt gone by 21 or 22. The huge losses at the end of the season to Missouri and Vandy spoke volumes about this coaches ability to get the team to at least play competitive. No excuse, 50-17 at Neyland 11 games in to a team that finished with 5 losses.

I knew exactly what happened. So, Peyton had a press conference to decide if he was staying. The press confrence was held at the stadium next to all the classes. Well, a student (A.K.A petie wagner)(also, my teacher.) opened a window. They also turned on the TV, and watched him. When they heard, they interrupted in cheers. My teacher went to school, when he was a junior in college.

RE: leader and ability to inspire others. Really! 1 out of a possible 4 SECs, 0-3 against FL, 3-1 in bowls, most significant win was against John Cooper who was 3-8 in bowls, One of the worst bowl losses in TN history (to Neb), 134 yds passing, season avg against Neb was 189. A&M the game before had 264 yds against Neb, CO the game before that had 362 against Neb. Ryan leaf had 330 yds against MI's #1 ranked defense in the Rose. 14-13 in playoffs (60th). Worst winning % of any QB with a winning record. It will never be beaten. Only 1 TD drive in both Super Bowls. When things mattered, he clearly didn't Where are you conjuring up all the other attributes from?

@QBDogKiller You don't get it. 3 years prior another Heisman runner-up QB (Heath Shuler) bolted UT for the NFL. Fans were worried about Peyton doing the same, and with a press conference he could put any questions to rest. There wouldn't be 1500 reporters sticking mic's in his face and asking if he had made a decision.
