The moment was so storybook; one of the most emotional in NFL history. He seemed done, and for all the records and stats, he wasn't going to get another Super Bowl ring. The team starts falling apart despite the talent, despite the know-how. The legend has been out for over 6 games, so he should be rusty, right? Then he comes in. He still has the brain to keep the offense in good plays, to audible into blocking schemes and good routes that sustain drives that either end in points or at least flip the field so that monstrous defense can do it's job with fresh legs and aggression. That's why he was still better than any young gun with a cannon arm and no nerve damage. Peyton Manning's mind and ability to execute the vision in that mind were enough to win games. Everyone credits the defense for carrying him, but if it weren't for him, the Broncos limp in as a 5 seed and don't win the Super Bowl.

Osweiler held the fort down but had pretty clearly petered out by this time - however without his OT wins over the Patriots and Bengals the Broncos would not have even been in the position for Peyton to step back in and take them all the way. Growing up watching Peyton is like everything else we got to witness, if you're lucky enough to be over the age of 40. The era and culture that developed guys like Peyton, Favre....was incredible in so many ways. I just watched a Dan Marino highlight the other day, and what was happening in the stands was as amazing as watching Marino himself. Such a great time in America, that these kids growing up will never know. KInd of like a listening to a cassette, or a record. It may not sound as polished....but, the character, and chemistry that was taking place, I wouldn't trade for anything. That said, rehab doesn't start to get expensive after a while...lol

Peyton was the best QB, period. Rings are about the entire franchise being great (or cheating, if you're in New England). Manning has had multiple GM's and a revolving door of head coaches who made questionable decisions in the biggest moments, bad offensive lines, porous defenses, receivers who prove to be mediocre when they go anywhere else, and lousy run games after Edgerrin James. In the post-season, where he inappropriately gets far too much criticism, he watched as Caldwell called a timeout to give the Chargers a win, Austin Collie drop a 3rd and 5 so they had to settle for a field goal, Pierre Garcon drop a wide open pass that puts them up 17-3 at half against the Saints if it's caught, Gijon Robinson run the wrong route on 4th down, defenses that stay on the field for 40 minutes in a game, special teams that give up 168 yards to returners, scores 35 plus in a January game but watches it not be enough somehow, the highest percentage FG kicker in history to that point in Van Der Jagt miss a 29-yarder against Pittsburgh, and Rahim Moore surrenders a 77 yard touchdown against a team that had no timeouts with seconds to go. Yet he catches flak for an INT he never should have been in a position to force, and for his offensive line simply being overmatched by Seattle. No one remembers that he's 3-1 against Brady in AFC Championship games, put up the only 500 yard post-season offensive performance against a Belichick defense, and led perhaps the greatest comeback in AFCCG history (2006). He wasn't a different guy from regular season to post-season; a team's weaknesses from top-to-bottom simply get plotted against. No more trying things out, bringing up guys from the practice squad, expanding the playbook, making trades, fighting for division position, saving player's health... The playoffs are all the best teams being ultra gamey against one another, and Peyton Manning was often on mediocre teams that he shouldered. Brady, on the other hand, was the beneficiary of a great franchise that also happened to fleece the entire league for the better part of 18 years.

You know what’s more impressive compared to Peyton’s leadership? The fact that they turned the ball over 4 times and when Peyton took over at half the score was 7-6. Denver still had a one point lead. Give that defense some credit. I’m a Broncos fan. I’m not here for all that “Peyton Manning and the Broncos won the Super Bowl” energy. I’m here for that “Von Miller and the Denver Broncos won the Super Bowl” energy. Put some respeck on our name. That’s who really won it. Let’s be real. They won this game and the next 3.

Finally, seeing as how the Broncos defense was absolute garbage in 2013 and got carried to a Super Bowl by Manning's arm. Never forget that 51-48 win over Dallas in 2013. Broncos scored 51 points only to win by 3 because their defense was so horrible.

other than that San Diego game (which I still say wasn't Brock's Fault) Brock has played incredibly well the first half. So realistically i think they should start Brock and bring manning in the 2nd half. Think of about it, Brock runs kubiacks Offense really well, Peyton brings a different mentality to that offense, so why not have both of them go in the game, It would make it incredibly difficult for whoever they play to prepare for them, basically 2 different offenses. Some teams run a 2 running back system so why don't you run a 2 quarterback system, also you COULD think of it sort of like baseball, where you have your starting pitcher with a reliever that comes in to finish the game...

Peyton may not have been slinging it for big numbers anymore at that point (or really since the latter part of the previous season despite getting off to an even hotter start than his record breaking year), but without him, the Broncos don't go on to win the Super Bowl. Was their defense great? Yep. But it doesn't matter when the offense can't function. While Manning is humble and says he can't take credit for the running game, he is the one that knows how a defense is lining up, he is the one who knows what protections and blocking schemes to call, and he can play chess against an opposing coach better than anyone. I mean, he entered that game after 6 weeks off and reels off 20 consecutive points in no time, and the Broncos secure the #1 seed.
