@@coatesjoseph If you’re not trolling, then I’m questioning your football IQ. Tony G is the only TE all time I would put over Gronk, if Gronk isn’t the greatest. Maybe Travis Kelce once his career is over. But to say Gronk isn’t a top 5 TE all time is laughable.
@coatesjoseph
@coatesjoseph 2 жыл бұрын
@@DeSeanBigBlueNation there are about 7 other TE that have similar or better stats than gronk and they didn't have tom brady(the greatest quarterback ever) glued to them their entire career. The best argument for gronk is his blocking stats on runs and passes. which not every tight end does sadly.
@DeSeanBigBlueNation
@DeSeanBigBlueNation 2 жыл бұрын
@@coatesjoseph do those 7 TEs have as many records as Gronk? Gronk still holds the NFL record for receiving TDs by a TE in a single season. Gronk has the most seasons with 10+ TDs by a TE. Gronk has the most 100 yard games by a TE in NFL history. Gronk has the most receptions and receiving yards by a TE in super bowl history. If people want to put Tony G ahead of Gronk, I don’t agree but that’s fine. I would even consider Travis Kelce over Gronk. Nobody else tho, to say he isn’t a top 5 TE all time is ludicrous.

No Defensive Coordinator ever came up with a good scheme to diffuse Gronk in his prime. He was indefensible - the most dominant TE the game has seen. Great hands, speed, size as a receiver and an excellent blocker. Great personality too - players like Gronk definitely help the NFL’s popularity.
@jcarson3721

I think the only schemes that ever worked were the "Maybe we have Kam Chancellor or Bernard Pollard to try to kill him?" type of scheme. I'm not saying they were intentional, I'm just saying the only way they ever stopped Gronk was by knocking him out of the game.
@jonashworth3827
@jonashworth3827 2 жыл бұрын
because the personnel they had available couldnt match up with him. if you put a cornerback to stop the pass, they just run the ball behind him. if you put a lineman that can block, he sheds the blocker, the linemen next to him pulls the block, and gronk goes downfield for a passing route. its an absolute nightmare matchup, because in all honesty he was large enough and strong enough to just block the linemen. he had zero bad matchups and dante scarnecchia teaching him blocking techniques, alltime great linemen coach for 60+ years.

Sometimes when a big guy slows down, it makes it harder for you to tackle him, like Gronk does on a few of these plays. At full speed, your momentum plus their momentum makes it easier.....it's especially tougher if he side steps or jukes you a little bit, so you have to slow down first. Then he can use his strength/size/long arm to hold you off.
