You never get locked out of a door or a way to go because you failed to open it or failed to lock pick it by raw because it's expected for you to brute force it and know the differences between these options. All of the rules of sample tasks can be found in Chapter 1 even under Simple DC's 2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2627 "estimating which proficiency rank best matches the task (that rank is usually not required to succeed at the task)." Estimating = Sample Task (Example of task!) Why* Acrobatics is said to be very bad* at a low level is because smooth surfaces and etc default to a DC40 regardless of your level. Because the world references SIMPLE DC's unless otherwise stated most of the time. And this is ALSO why feats like Wall Run or Jump Attack are so incredibly good by making these kinds of things 50%+ easier to do. And a good GM in the system should also be improvising. For instance; everybody should be able to Jump Attack with or without the feat but the GM must apply difficulty adjustments and make it significantly worse than if you did take the feat. Rather than saying 'no'. And I would say also that just because force open or etc is hard that a nat 20 is always possible. For future proofing; this is also the fundamentals of why in the upcoming Mythic system coming out with WOI that Mythic Proficiency right at level 1 via Mythic Points is crazy. That's when you actually can break the 'static world'. Also one last thing: This whole "strike the door vs do a check" *also is true for disabling hazards at low levels*. Unless the hazard is a reseting/repeating hazard a lot of the time mitigation and striking it to it's broken threshold is more effective if you otherwise were going to fail the disable trap check. Again, disabling a trap is the stealthiest most elegant way of beating a hazard. Bashing the bear traps with a hammer is ALWAYS going to be faster or whats even faster is getting damage mitigation and TANKING it if it doesn't RESET! One more thing: The *Razing Trait* exists for this reason! To beat high hardness objects and tilt it a couple points down. Great side arms! 2e.aonprd.com/Traits.aspx?ID=784&Redirected=1 If "Improvising" and the information here interests you I have created the ultimate PF2e GM Screen with all the material stats on it! hwww.patreon.com/posts/114358644

The Razing trait applies when striking an object, so they're great weapons for getting around at low levels. Shout out to Breaching Pike or Earthbreaker wielding Thaumaturges for getting through objects because their implements impowerment helps get over hardness so well, it's like watching a barbarian rage through a door lol.

100% a lot of people look at it like "It's just a couple of points tho!" But that's more oomph on your guaranteed results. Its a definite +X every time! Just like how shield block mitigating small attacks gains value over time! It adds up and is totally worth it and they are not expensive. They are readily available and you have reach options, ranged options! The only reason people don't know this is because of a lack of education on how this works! And DAMN DOES IT MAKE THE GAME BETTER!
