The one in the purple dress is Helen Scott. She was a Degree from 1963 to 1966 and rejoined in 1976 and is still there til this day. This clip was done in 1981/1982. The one in the middle Sheila Ferguson left the group in 1986.

Ashley I had no idea Sheila was so funny. LOL. Tour aunt Helen is so poised. Valerie is devine. And I too miss Fayette. Love all the incarnations of these ladies tho. Superb!

So glad to see that these women enjoyed one another and really got along. I always felt that it would be practically impossible to deliver that beautiful sound if they were at one another's throat and acting like prima donnas all the time. Very happy to see my hunch was right about them. Watching this interview makes me appreciate them even more (even though this is the trio without Fayette Pinkney). BTW, the classic 3 Degrees: Pinkney, Sheila Ferguson and Valerie Holiday.

The Three Degrees are classy ladies, and very funny and entertaining to listen to. You can tell they are good humoured about the interview despite the interviewer. Just love Sheila.....she is obviousley the cut-up of the group. Love Helen, too, but I do miss Faye! I still consider the Classic line-up of the group to be the best of all; but, all the line-ups have been very good at keeping the groups sound intact! Bravo to the Three Degrees!

@vuotopiuscuro you're welcome. Just so you'll know, in case you don't: Original group was Fayetter Pinkney, Linda Turner, and Shirley Porter (1963); then Faye with Helen Scott and Janet Harmon ('63-66); Faye with Sheila Ferguson and Janet Harmon (66-67); Faye with Sheila and Sundray Tucker (67); Faye with Sheila and Valerie Holiday (67-76); Sheila and Val with returning member Helen Scott (76-86). 2 different ladies joined before Cynthia Garrison joined in 89. @vuotopiuscuro p.s. the 2 other ladies that joined were short lived members, one of which was Victoria Wallace. They filled in Sheila's spot before Cindy joined and became permanent (89-10). That's a total of 21 years together for Val, Helen, and Cindy. And, as much as I love all the combinations of the group, the CLASSIC line up will always be my favourties: namely: Fayette, Sheila, and Valerie. Their the combination that brought the group international fame!

It always pays to be complimentary to interviewers in the entertainment business...being flirtatious is always a plus too, even if you don't mean it. It becomes a natural part of "the act" which you are when you are in public, whether you are on stage or not!
@proverbs182413 жыл бұрын
@vuotopiuscuro I don't know a link per se, just type in the Three Degrees and you'll find numerous videos of the group in it's various line ups (though there are none that show the original group or it's follow up line up when Helen first joined the group.......those uploads are just the song with a picture of the group). But, one of my favourites with Faye is Somos Novious! Faye was the longest running original member (1963-1976). Helen sang with her from '63--'66 along with Janet Harmon.

Awful interviewer as others have said, but the ladies were up to the task. Never realized how funny Sheila is, or that she wrote "The Runner" which is my favorite Three Degrees song. I love how comfortable they are which each other. I think of interviews with The Supremes and how strained things always seemed regardless of the lineup. These women really seem to like each other.

Five or six of his questions can be seen as sex related. The sexism in the entertainment business I am convinced affected Sheila Fergusons career when she left the Degrees in 1986. She said she left the group to spend more time with her children. Record companies try to tie you down to continually working to make maximum profit from hit records. In interviews Sheila was excellent in deflecting awkward or stupid questions though.

Too bad Sheila left the group. She was the lead singer who made the group stand out and is one of the original classic members of the group and she provided a classic famous reputation for the Three Degrees. Sheila, Valerie, and Fayette are the original classic members with their most classic famous songs from the early to mid 1970s like, When Will I See You Again, Dirty Ol Man, TSOP, Take Good Care Of Yourself, Year Of Decision, and etc. Despite making new hits year after year, fans still preferred their 1970s original classic famous songs. Fayette left in 1976 and then Helen took over, but it was only just that one member that changed, so it did not really change the group too much and at least when fans enjoyed them performing their 1970s classic songs, at least they recognized most of the classic members of the group including Sheila who was the lead singer who stood out the most still remained in the group. But when Sheila left in 1986 and they found a replacement to continue the group, it really was not the same and fans prefer their original 1970s classic songs to listen to, but when they would see their later performances without Sheila, they still like the performances, but they know it is not the same even though they will not admit it and for the past 30 something years, it looks as if another music group are doing cover songs of their 1970s classic hits every time they would perform these songs. I personally feel that after Sheila left, they all should have gone their separate ways and pursue different projects and their own solo careers and then once in a while they all can reunite together for a concert or simple performances and let the fans remember the Three Degrees they way they were. If they were going to look for a replacement after Sheila left, they should have at least asked Fayette to come back, which I think Fayette would have been more than happy to and even though Fayette unfortunately passed away in 2009, at least Fayette would have had an additional 20 something years with them and they would have at least maintained a reputation of having a long history of most of the classic members remaining in the group for the past 30-40 years and at least fans would recognize and remember most of the classic members performing including when it came to their 1970s classic songs.
