Buddy, I was driving San Mateo Bridge and 880. I saw expired tags, no plates, and obvious fake paper plates. Shee-it! There's now way that a beat up Geo Metro or Saturn has paper plates assigned to it. 😁 I get monthly invoices from Bay Area Fastrak for tolls. These fools are using the bridge and probably getting away with it. What are the officials going to do? Take away their license? Take away their registration? No paperwork? No problem!

When I came out, this Black older homeless looking dude (sorry, he WAS Black) had removed the gas nozzle and put it back, and wanted a tip. I was so incensed that he handled my RV. I said wait a minute... went inside, got my aluminum bat and came out and said, 'Which part of your body should get my tip?' and then chased him off the gas station lot. He ran off like a rabbit! He was an older man with grey hair, but he bolted like a sprinter out of there. Wow. If residents have to face this all day long, it must be stressful. What a horrible place. I'm glad I don't live there. Too much gang activity, and general lawlessness.

"License plate reader cameras" are the biggest waste of money of all time. The criminals will just find them and destroy them knowing the city can't replace them. Half probably won't work out of the box. Or criminals will just steal and swap plates when out creating havoc. You think cops are going to be looking for stolen plates?

The police cars in my large city in the central valley have license plate reader/cameras. They look like the backup camera on your car and are mounted in the front grilles. They are constantly feeding plate numbers to the computer automatically. My city also has "shot spotter" microphones mounted on street lights in neighborhoods. It's all computerized. When the central computer hears a sound that matches gunfire profile officers are automatically dispatched by the computer. The computer is able to triangulate the location of the shots to within 100' and gives the address to the responding officers. The system was successfully put to use the first week it was put online. In addition to all of this, law enforcement here have 3 helicopters. Police Dept., Sheriffs office, and CHP each have a helicopter. No "Defunding the Police" in my area. In fact, the police department has the largest share of the city budget.
