Neither made their money on microtransactions, they made it on a well built game with different ways to play and rewarded replaying at a high level. These bear bone game designer's need to learn that.

That's funny you say that. I think the first Tiger game I got was 02 or 03 whenever they added the analog swing. I don't think there was even 10 coarses and a good portion of them were fake but we had a blast with that game. We all went through the career mode because that golfer was slightly better than Tiger. We played hard core. There doesn't seem to be a game like that anymore.

I’m not a huge fan of sports games, let alone golf games, but I got this game for free on the PSN store as I’m a PS plus member. I haven’t been able to put it down! I’m having a blast playing through the career mode, winning tournaments and working my way up the ladder. I think 2K got a lot right with this game , and they’ve made a golf game, of all games, fun to play. 8/10 for me

There's only one thing I care about. I want to sit on the sofa with a friend and for us BOTH to be able to log in to our own profiles and play together. Something that's been missing from ALL golf games since the Xbox 360 games. Now, player 2 is forced to be a 'Guest' and cannot unlock achievements or retain any statistics whatsoever. Pathetic.

just played it yesterday for the first time and I think 2k21 is much better regarding the gameplay, 2K21 seems so much smoother with the controls and i'm slicing my drives every hole in this game. it generally seems to suck

I love this game but its a budget 2k title. They paid a budget studio to make it. Not bad but charging 60 is kinda crazy when you can go get "the golf club 2019" or "2k21" for dirt cheap for the same game. I know theres new stuff but the graphics and the weird announcer glitches ive been having and the lackluster announcer presentation makes me keep going back to "ea sports pga tour" more often for the immersion. But atleast you guys hired someone competent to review this game and not whoever they picked at IGN who clearly never played a golf game before.

am playing 2k23 now, am very confused about clubs. Are they cosmetic only? i was awared some TGC zero sum irons, and for the life of me i cannot compare their stats to the default ones... it appears i can equip them, but the stats do not change. what am i missing?

Clubs are cosmetic only. (Sound effects change too.) But you can equip three "fittings" (head, shaft, grip) to each club to customize its values.

Thanks for the review. Same old HB engine with the same issues. A bit too sensitive on the swing, Having the player twitch just as you swing and I assume anyone you play against off line is a guest and gets no experience points. I just do not understand why these issues are still in the game. It really needs several degrees of difficulty to chose from when you start playing the game. This had to potential to be the best golf game ever. But for me it is too inconsistent and in reality, limited to a single player on line experience.

Yea its str8 trash .... RPG basically nonexistant .... cant upgrade stats the "skills" you get make zero sense like miss three str8 greens and get a small boost in accuracy 💩 or miss two putts from 5 ft or less and u get a boost in putting (seriously) there are a laughably small amount of different clothing options ... feels hollow and there are also pay to win golf balls you can buy that fly 20 yards further and stop on a dime and people play them in online ranked matches ... whole thing is a joke do not buy

I really like this is a overall step up from PGA 2k21. My only huge gripe is the game freezing after I hit my tee shot, it happens multiple times in a gaming sessions and makes it very irritating to play 👎. It that get fixed in the next update I'll be a happy golfer

The only thing they didn't fix is sometimes when I start a match in careers mode it resets my golf clubs back to the default ones you start with, it's not a huge deal and doesn't affect the gameplay. I played it for a few hours last night and the only issue I had was going back and fixing my clubs

Honestly don't know who would pay full price for these games, this looks like it's basically an add on for 2k21. The dry, slow and underdeveloped commentary, combined with overly repetitive game play and plastic mannequin looking crowds are hugely underwhelming and combine to make a really dull gameplay experience. For me I'll wait to see what the upcoming EA golf game will be like. Surely it will be a breathe of fresh air.

Don't forget the issue with the pin being in the hole when you putt. That is absolutely not allowed, unless the pin is attended by your caddie. I have missed putts that were 5ft away just by hitting the pin with barely any speed on the ball... I also completely agree with the inconsistency in shots. People can have slow swing speeds and still smash the ball, speed has little to do with going right or left. The player creation system leaves a lot to be desired as well. I have seen better in games that are a decade older... Instead of Golf games getting better, they seem to be declining. I also expected the game and models to be much better looking on PS5, in 4k.

@@thechronomage5605 Under the old rules, if you putted into a cup with the flag still in, it was a penalty on you. Not anymore. The 2019 edition of the Rules of Golf removed that old rule. Now, golfers can leave the flag in or take it out, whichever they prefer.

I played the demo and there appear to be less courses on this game. 2k21 had all the courses made on thegolfclub so I could play a good few famous links courses. But they don’t appear to be in the game. Augusta and shinnecock also seem to be gone
