Thank you for these excellent tutorials. However may I observe that your views on what constitutes a sizeable number of aircraft are a little US centric? 20 aircraft in one base is a huge number for most nations. A British fighter squadron has 12 aircraft (the RAF was the world's first independent air arm). A single US carrier overmatches the air forces of almost all nations on Earth.

US aircraft is usually cheaper than European though, I mean for example the F-16 compared to the Eurofighter or Rafale.

I find your videos immensely useful, but the audio quality is so poor it's difficult to listen to at times. Is there a reason why? Do you need a decent mic? If so, I would be happy to contribute, and I think others might as well. Sorry if my first post was a moan, I just think you're doing God's work with this game! Lemme know if there's a way to help with audio, either functionally or through donation.

@@PGatcomb I can help. I did this professionally in a former life. I don't think it's necessarily your mic. It could be, but I think it's actually how close the mic is to you mouth. There are a number of fixes. First, you most likely have a dynamic or ribbon mic. But you might explore a condenser mic. For now, try to get the line into a preamp and get the mic physically father from the point of sound; then you can just turn up the gain on the preamp. You tend to get a few "air" sounds in your recordings, so distance will help with that too. Almost any decent podcasting mic you buy from amazon will be better than the little gaming mic in your headset.

@P Gatcomb This is the way to go, condenser mic, but be warned they can get very expensive. As Wm said, any condenser mic will be better than the current mic you're using. Also, be sure to invest in a pop filter and boom, these are comparatively inexpensive. A little investment like this will improve these videos exponentially! And thanks again for your work as it really helps newbs like me who want to play this game, but struggle with its complexity.

@@PGatcomb I just got done with the video and first: nice video. Thanks; good info in there. Also, your number one issue is the amount of breathing and non-voice noise you are capturing. I think you probably can't hear it when recording because the headset isn't set up to monitor your feed so much as to hear other people talking. So, number one is to move that mic a good four inches away from your mouth. A rule of thumb is literally that: put the tip of your thumb to your mouth and the span from the tip of your thumb to the furthest reaches of your pinkie when both are extended is how far the mic should be. If you can't hear the sounds as well then up the gain. Also a piece of fabric or fluffy material either between your mouth and the mic or over the mic will go a long, long way. These are all thing you need even if you have a new mic. Also, remember that your audience will notice sound imperfections at a thershold much lower than video imperfections. i don't know what it is about the aural sense of your brain but anything annoying on sound can make a video unwatchable. We can forgive a lot of video imperfections but not audio. To that end, listen to your videos after you post them to KZbin to make sure the compression and encoding hasn't screwed things up beyond tolerable (This does happen often and is the reason commercials sound louder than TV programs. They aren't but compression and encoding certainly make them appear that way. Ditto KZbin). So listen to a few minutes picked at random in your video.
