The 64-player field is set, and the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play is ready to return to the PGA TOUR schedule after being cancelled last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kevin Kisner returns to defend his title from 2019 and will face stiff competition as all of the top-10 golfers in the Official World Golf Ranking are teeing it up at Austin Country Club. Reigning FedExCup champion Dustin Johnson headlines the field, while Justin Thomas makes his first start since winning THE PLAYERS Championship. Twenty-two golfers will be making their Match Play debuts including TOUR winners Sungjae Im, Viktor Hovland and Matthew Wolff alongside major champion Collin Morikawa and Korn Ferry Tour Points leader Will Zalatoris.

Glad Ames took this approach. Seems like most would be afraid to say it. “ Tigers the best in the world, no one is going to beat him. He will beat me in this match.” What’s the point in saying that? Go out and say, “ I’ll beat him.” Never mind “he got schooled , ...he showed no respect,...he knows now...” Monty was always afraid of tiger and basically said it. Stephen did what he should have. Didn’t work out ( which is not a surprise) but as a competitor, you don’t bow down to your opponent, you take them on. If Tiger were to play Stephen today I’m sure he would say the same thing, even though most likely Ames would win now.

The last thing I would ever do is give tiger ammunition. If it were me I would’ve said “he’s the greatest player in the world right now and I just hope to keep pace… Do I think I have a chance? Sure I do, we are all good out here he’s just the greatest and I can’t wait to compete against the greatest“. Instead of Steven Ames calling him spoiled and saying he can’t hit the ball straight.
