It was an excellent video of an excellent guitarist Thomas Viloteau, who has super giant technic and nuance. Bravo.

This is frankly the best rendition of the Chaconne in classical guitar. A congratulation to Thomas

Superbe version de la chaconne! Un grand bravo! La couleur apportée par l'accord à 415 est vraiment très intéressante effectivement.

Didn't like the visuals until I realized where he was walking at about 3:00.

Finally I find a "different" version of this piece played on guitar. The way he plays the arpeggiated chords really make a difference. I just noticed he plays the piece in Db and not original D. Was it conceived as A 415 for this version? Thanks for sharing.

Emanuel Estrada Yarce thank you for your comments, actually the information you asked about the guitar is written in the description ...

My bad!. I actually read it and didn't see it. I'll edit previous comment.

Hi, Emanuel. I like Thomas' version, it is certainly very sensitively played. I would like to suggest this version to you as well though. Apparently, Goran Sollscher said it was the best Chaconne on KZbin. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJCVqqaLa6irgqc

which version of JS Bach Chaccone Thomas was playing in this video? His own arrangement or Segovia's version?

Great interpretation musically - spoiled by the irritating and pointless video - would much prefer to see Thomas actually performing the music.

Snowfire Sunwind actually we think that's important to explore different way to present the music, not only the casual one. We are sorry if you don't understand our goal, but Thomas and PGF agreed on this version

Snowfire Sunwind Music is for listening, not watching. I actually quite like the video. Having a walk through Paris while playing the Chaconne in his head, I think it's pretty creative.

I agree that video is very pointless. It makes you think of a modern computer game or whatever but it's not setting you in the right mood for Bach Music... But the playing itself is very good and that is what counts in the end.
@pavelralev7 жыл бұрын
It clearly made YOU think of that, I said what it made me think of - playing the Chanconne in his head while walking around Paris. Let's just call it taste and stop arguing about it :)

I perfectly agree with snowfire. Can't really understand the reason for this silly video. Wonderful playing though.

I was disappointed with your video for the first time. The video is old-fashioned in a way. It's a pity because a person like you is rarely seen.

Of course taste is a subjective thing and so my comments here are entirely personal. At the end of the day it's all about how the performer feels when he plays, whether he has communicated something unique through his performance to the audience and of course whether he has expressed the composer's intentions and music with understanding and integrity. Viloteau's playing is technically competent with some interesting ideas and colours, but I feel the music could do with a much greater range of dynamics to bring out the full emotional impact of this masterpiece by Bach. The video however, doesn't compliment the music at all! It makes it, what could I say ... pedestrian. It detracts because it has nothing at all to do with the music, except for the end of the 1st section where there is a transfer of the guitar from one person to the next. But over all, it would have been better to just have an interesting picture(s) as background, or even better, a video of the performer himself.
