RMT's always been a great value for the money spent from the beginning. I've got six of their "Beep" diesels and let me tell you, put two or more together and they'll pull anything! I wish they'd start making them again! If you're going to York I'm told Walt Matuch from RMT will be at the Henning's Trains booth so I'm definately stopping by and hoping I can say "Hello!" and "Thank you!" .W\\\\\\\\

Was glad walt sent you a couple of the scale cars. Lots of time put into them. They had to be full scale when we talked about them. The details had to be better than lionel or MTH. The truck details were designed off the old walthers style trucks with all the details and roll much better than most. And the prices had to be less than everyone else..... Hopefully you enjoy all the extra things put into these cars.

I have several RMT cars and also the Aristocraft/RMT ones as well as many of the Beep engines. Nice stuff! The RMT rail cars I have from the earlier years, have springs on the trucks but the springs don't operate. ( I do think with the active springs rail cars do ride quieter. ) On a side subject, and I'm glad to see RMT did not do this. What the problem I see in the modern MFG; is some companies use the post war style pick up plate or other mechanisms hanging of the spinning axles. Sorry those mounting plates were designed for non-spinning axles, with the wheels that spin on the axles. Mixing that old style plate on the modern one pieces wheels and axles add a lot of wear to the train and drag on the load. If your's has that design remember to oil or grease the axles on the inside on those plate tabs area. I have a Menard's hopper that the coupler mechanism hangs around the spinning axles.

You did an excellent presentation of these. Walter Matuch has been providing very reasonably priced 0 gauge products for over 2 decades. He's the last in the line of (now defunct) K-Line and Williams. I'm happy you scale lovers have a new line of Boxcars to enjoy. I'm more enthusiastic about RMT's 36' reefers. I believe this tooling came from K-Line.

Those are some nice-looking cars. l like how the paint on the boxcar is done that makes it look like actual metal. I must say I'm surprised. I thought you were going to pitch some kind of locomotives that were unnaturally short and stubby. Hum, scale cars behind unnaturally short locomotives. I don't get it. Spraying the ore loads with Testors dullcote would make them even more convincing by eliminating the plastic looking sheen.
@johnmagnusson75453 ай бұрын
Very cool, Can these cars be ordered on RMT or do I have to goto like pats trains to order?
@RailRide3 ай бұрын
RMT no longer sells direct. You have to get their products from hobby retailers. Henning's and Pat's trains are a couple of them, there are others as well. Any hobby shop that can buy from Emery (the distributor) is a potential RMT dealer. RMT itself _might_ be able to tell you who carries their items in your area (makes sense, but I don't know for certain ).

@RailRide3 ай бұрын
Pretty safe bet they're sticking to 3-rail 'O'. N has a larger market share (#2 behind HO), but there are also a lot more companies producing equipment for that scale.
@casstelles2 ай бұрын
I hate to be that "guy', but I did see one thing wrong with the DL&W boxcar as decorated. The DL&W boxcar should have journal bearing trucks versus roller bearing trucks. Even the wheels on the roller bearing trucks shouldn't have ribbed backed wheels even though this is a nice detail. The trucks not being sprung regardless of being roller bearing or journal bearing wouldn't bother me as much as having the correct trucks. This makes it hard to give it a solid 'A' grade. So, would it be an 'A-' or a 'B+.' This would be hard to decide. As far as the ore car's trucks, I've seen them in both journal bearing and roller bearing trucks depending on the time period. So, they can be accurate with the roller bearing trucks. Would I but these cars? With the price point if $35, it's hard to beat the price with all the other details. Besides, the trucks can be overlooked. They are way better than the old MPC era Lionel trucks. Those things look strange on any car that they are placed on.
@johncrowley37223 ай бұрын
Ooof they have roller bearing trucks w/ triple springs in the boogies. to modern for this car.
@PghTrainFanatic3 ай бұрын
That’s incorrect railroads were widely converting to roller bearing trucks in the 50’s Google lookup
@EL-rn2jt3 ай бұрын
@@PghTrainFanatic Trucks are incorrect - 50' cars had that mix, never on 40' unless they were assigned to express passenger service. MTH Premier cars were never accurate either. Artwork doesn't match the actual product. That's a problem with pre-orders.
@EL-rn2jt3 ай бұрын
Changed? - All these types of cars were suppose to contain the older type Bettendorf trucks, not modern roller-bearing. His PS-1's are identical to Lionel's version including the interior load divider and bottom. I would think Lionel will be concerned about this. I always said, there's no reason for OEM scale 40' cars to cost over 40 bucks. We have been getting ripped off for years. Looks like the couplers are better being closer to the body. Nice all around products. I'm sure he will do well with volume buyers! Waiting on a couple Wood Chip Cars soon....I hope? S.
@PghTrainFanatic3 ай бұрын
@@EL-rn2jt not completely true about the trucks. Railroad started converting some equipment to roller bearings in the 50’s. It just wasn’t mandated for a couple decades later. the only thing Lionel should be concerned about is the price tag and it being less then half of theirs for an equally detailed scale car.
@EL-rn2jt3 ай бұрын
Those PS1 cars and schemes only had 2 spring Bettendorfs. His web site shows them as well. 50' cars could have both as Atlas did. Pecos River trucks had stamping on their trucks Both are a nice detail!
