Dear Sree, I was very happy to listen to your interview of Subramanian Swamy regarding Morarji Desai. Very much enlightening. Thank you very much for it. I just want to share a small incident with you. In 1961 my father purchased a bungalow in cantonment area from a retired railway officer Seshagiri Rao My father bought it. Since the railway officer was his friend. He bought it cheaply even though it was worth about 1.25 lakhs. Rao sold it my father, so as to avoid selling it to the Pudukkottai Maharaja & the Nangavaram Estate owner Thandavarayan Pillai. After having bought the building my father was renovating the bungalow so that we could move into it. Thandavarayan Pillai & Pudukkottai Maharaja tried to buy my father off but my father refused to sell. So Thandavarayan Pillai threatened “settu! you will not be alive to live in this house if you don’t sell the house to us”. My father told him to get out. I was witness to this. I was studying in 7th std at that time. That night my father telephoned to Morarji Desai and told him this incident. It was only at that time we came to know that Morarji Desai & my father had been jail mates for a brief period during the freedom struggle. Morarji Desai told him certain secrets of the Maharaja which were only known to the central Government. And instructed to my father to tell the Maharaja what he knew. Next day my father telephoned & told the Pudukkottai Maharaja what Morarji Desai had instructed my father to tell, the Maharaj was shocked to the core. He realized that my father had very powerful connections in Delhi. It was later Morarji Desai told my father that Morarji Desai also had telephoned to the Maharaja to lay off my father. In that way Morarji Desai helped us. I have one more incident to add that, but I shall write to you on your email since it is not for public knowledge.

Stop believing things that Indira Gandhi's agents and ISI and KGB spread. He cut down on RAW funding because all agencies of the India govt were being heavily misused by Indira Gandhi's govt, including IB, to fix her political opponents, and because he believed he could build bridges with Pakistan. This was a typical Gandhian and mistaken way of thinking about realpolitik. Things are never black and white, but all shades of grey. Essentially, he was a deeply spiritual man who was upright and stood for principles. He was in every way a Hindu Nationalist, who always spoke for Ram Rajya, and stood for a liberal economy.

I think the so called Gandhian qualities in Morarji Desai led him to being more appeasing of Pakistan in case of his RAW blunders. Another blunder was the Gold Control Act which led to increase in smuggling and solidifying the underworld in Maharashtra and Gujarat. One thing which Morarji did right was that as PM he was able to control inflation and price rise in the country. On the economic front, the Janata Government was the only one in Post Independence India which brought down prices and gave relief to middle and lower classes in India. Hence, on the economic front Morarji gets an A+ but on the national security front he gets a D-.

PM Morarje Desai was well remembered in this speech by Dr Swamy . Morarji was a simple hardliner PM and ousted by bribary and corruption by Indira after her short spell in the Jail in 1978-79. He was well known to BBC and English politicians. Voters of congress and People had practically very little information of this Morarji and devoted to devious plans to oust him and he told this to BBC in 1979 interview to BBC.He lived 100 years .

The Great Morarji suffered a lot for our freedom Struggle and was put to Jail for nearly 10 years in addition to the 19 months during the Emergency. He was a man of strong conviction and a symbolic representation of transparency and honesty in Public Life . Had he become the PM of the nation after Nehru the country would have secured tremendous development. He is the most efficient Prime Minister India has ever seen . His competency and integrity can not be questioned . The price stability in the Country during his tenure as PM is appreciated by all . Persons who have not even lifted their little finger are making unbelievable stories to tarnish the image of the Great Son of India, but in vain . His life is an inspiration to the generations and generations to come as rightly observed by Shri Narendra Modi the Incumbent PM of the nation. One should understand that he had no house of his own in the Country despite the holding of significant positions as an ICS Officer for 12 years since 1918 and as Minister of Home and Revenue of Bombay before Independence and as Chief Minister of Bombay for a long time after independence and as the Union Minister for Commerce , Finance and Home and Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister . His record of presenting 10 Union Budgets still remains unbroken. Shri Sarad Pawar the CM of Maharashtra only allotted a Government Quarters for his retired life at Mumbai . It is very sad to see the kind of venom being put out by many viewers here, who have not taken the trouble to study Morarji's life. Morarji Desai was essentially a Hindu Nationalist. He lived his life according to the teachings of Bhagavad Gita. He was inspired by sages like Ramana Maharshi and Sri Aurobindo, and often spoke about Ram Rajya as the ideal towards which society and government should work. He stood for a liberal economy and was against mindless nationalization. This was why he could not continue as finance minister with Indira Gandhi. Till today, we are reaping the results off this stupid left-wing socialism practiced by Indira Gandhi. For all these reasons, Morarji was targeted by the left media and by KGB and its agents. People should read the Mitrokhin Archive Part 2 to understand the kind of deep state that KGB was running in India at that time. For example, SK Patil, another veteran Congressman who was extremely anti communist, was the victim of such a KGB game, where a forged letter from the US Ambassador was planted by the KGB to paint him as a CIA agent. A lot of these canards against Morarji Desai have their source in similar nefarious activities of the KGB and the Communist ecosystem that prevails in India till date. Morarji Desai did cut down on RAW funding when he became Prime Minister. The reason for that was that all institutions of the state, including the IB, had been heavily misused by Indira Gandhi against her political opponents.
