My PGWP is expiring in Nov 24. I submitted my WES application in May and awaiting their report. I have completed my ietls also. I have been working in tech from Nov 23 until present ( changed employers in June) . What are my options ? Can I apply for an open work permit before my current permit expires ?

Temporary residence has a limit of open work permits unless its employer specific, so if you are not eligible for pnp and your score if not upto the par, i might have to look into it before any suggestions, please feel free to reach out if you are serious about it- invest4k.com/book-appointment

So sad! You can always apply for work permit along with your sponsorship application, it will be a new permit :)

My PGWP will expire on May 5, 2024. I have a job STEM job in Ontario and I don't want to lose this great job just because of this stupid government's no PGWP extension policy. My OINP application is in "Decision in progress" (DIP) status for the last 10 business days. Even if I get the nomination by the end of March, I'm still in doubt whether I'll get ITA before my PGWP expires. My company already explored LMIA option and can't proceed as they don't have enough logic to prove my candidacy. What's the best option to continue to work legally? Should I apply for a work permit extension with an explanation that my PNP is in progress, basically a fake extension?

Hi, its totally your call. Legally you are allowed to work until a decision is made. Also, once you have your ITA you can request for bridge open work permit. You also have option to take a few months of vacation.

My work permit is expiring next month 20th, I have a valid visitor visa and used it to visit to USA on Oct 3rd 2023. So do I need to exit within 6 months from Oct 3rd ? Or I can count 6 months from the day of expiry of PGWP ? Please advise .

You will need to apply for Visitors record to be able to stay in Canada with your Visitor visa.

Hi, you can get paid leave but your employer will not allow that as you don’t have permit to work so you cannot technically be their employee. I would advise to apply for extension so atleast you can work until a decision is been made.

@@invest4k I’m not coming under any available categories to apply for a work permit. Because I don’t have invitation or PNP nominations. Which work permit shall I apply and I am working in tech stream and my application is in assessment stage with ONIP. Moved to assessment stage on Jan 18th. If I don’t get a decision before March 20th, which category shall I apply for a work permit extension, could you please advise ?

Its totally on your discretion how you want to apply, all I can say is that legally you are allowed to work until a decision is made on your application.

@@invest4k if suppose I am applying on a some category, if the officer is not convinced to give me a work permit and rejects my application after a month. Does it affect my future PR applications or when I apply for a visitor application ? Because I see, there is a column when you fill for visitor/work permit visa it asks if you ever rejected any permit/visa in the past ? What are the chances available ?
