What are you bringing into the country? 🤓chos! If you're arriving in NAIA terminal 1, you may opt to do online customs declaration (optional): ideclare.customs.gov.ph/ All inbound travelers must register to E-TRAVEL: etravel.gov.ph/ 🔴 Philippine Trave Updates: kzbin.info

The problem with making a declaration via etravel, is that you are providing sensitive information very early. Early enough for bad elements to plan for your arrival at the airport or on your way home. Yes, on your way home! Declaring that you are carrying over $10,000 is enough for mischievous individuals to intercept you once you leave the airport. Be careful because of airport history everywhere not only the Philippines experience such crimes. It happens at banks too in the Philippines as experienced by someone. Do a manual declaration especially when you have things of substantial value to declare. Don't give scrupulous individuals a chance to intercept you.

Declaring the items you have to bring naman sa lahat ng countries na need to i-declare should be done and be informed beforehand. AIRPORT LAWS na po yan INTERNATIONALLY by IATA. You will be pay a hefty fine kapag di mo dineclare kung ano ang nasa loob ng iyong check-in bags. Makabago na ang xrays/scan machine ngayon. One instance is a friend of a friend went back to Australia and marami syang dalang pagkain, goods, fruits, etc from Philippines na pasalubong. Pinagalitan sya ng customs there for not declaring these items which is prohibited to bring. Ikaw ba naman magdala ng 4 na bottles of bagoong, bananas, langka, mangga, durian and even cooked foods which are frozen pero pagdating sa Australia eh hindi na frozen hahahaha... and eto pa, walis-tambo and banig... Kinuha nila ang ibang items and she even fined AUD 430.00 for not complying with the rules. If she have declared them, siguro hindi sya magkakaroon ng fine. Pwera na lang ang banig, walis tambo at mga fruits which will be harmful for their crops as these might have pests or insects na talagang kukunin nila. FOLLOW THE RULES. AND YOU WILL NEVER GO WRONG.

First up: Kudos to Jenni for trying her hand at information about customs regulations, that has to be the most inconsistent and fast changing part of airtravel. I tried a few times to get a comprehensive list of items, but usually it doesn't exist for the public. So coming from germany, i usually stick to the customs information the german embassy in Manila publishes in collab with PH customs. The two items that confuse me the most in this internet age and that have been on the list for a decade now and never changed: sexually explicit material and night vision goggles? What am i gonna do in the PH? Sit in my dark hotel room at night and read pron magazines in the dark with my night vision goggles? lol Never thought to bring either items on my travels haha

Hi Jennifer, thanks again for a very concise and informed customs briefing! My buddy is visiting this month. I shared you briefing on all the necessary "things you need to know or do" when traveling to the Philippines. He's bringing me a bottle of men's colognem, otc drugs, and snacks... We were wondering about customs. You address all my questions. You didn't mention "food porn". I was hoping he bring me pics BBQ brisket, sausages, sweet potato pie, potato salad, enchiladas and crispy tacos! I guess those would get confiscated huh? Thanks again!

Thanks for the good information Jennifer. I have been to the Philippines several times, and while there have experienced power failures. (one pretty nasty typhoon which knocked the power out for days) Is there any prohibited electronics such as frequency and voltage converters that can be hooked up to a battery for back up power.? Batteries being pretty heavy I would purchase that locally but I'm not sure of electronic inverters availability locally. I would be bringing a small inverter that weighs not more than 10 lbs and a related battery charger weighing several pounds? Anything electronic I would be bringing in would not be taken back to the U.S., as I'm renting a condo and would leave the electronics there permanently. Thanks for any info you can supply.

We flew into NAIA last December for a vacation, and after clearing immigrations, and walking towards customs, they just waved us through as we were approaching. The three of us pushing 3 baggage carts with 6 checked and 6 hand carried bags in total. We never even slowed our walking pace, and they didn't ask or make any attempt to collect the declaration forms. They just smiled, waved and wished us a nice day. Coming back a month later, and clearing US immigrations and customs in LAX. I never saw any signage, line or anything saying US Customs. At both ends customs was pretty much non-existent.

Always so helpful Jennifer I always recommend the Philippines to people when they ask what my favourite country to travel is. I am arriving late next week from Australia and have already organised the taxi in one of your previous videos. He seems like an awesome guy. As for the gadgets, I always bring 2 laptops and 2 phones (one to use there and the other a backup in case mine drops or I get pick pocketed haha) bu this time I am bring a few extra phones to donate to an orphanage to perhaps give to teenagers that cannot afford them. I bring medication but the doctors letter is accompanied with it. Your channel is VITAL for people to see before travelling there as you do all the hard work telling us all rule changes and "Do's & Don'ts".... for us to find out all of this information we would be spending many hours reading websites and watching different videos on KZbin. Hi, processed meat like beef jerky is OK. Pack & seal it well. As for your passport, if you're using a foreign passport you can't travel (abroad) on it anymore. Most airlines require at least 6 months left on the PP. You must renew your PP before you take an international flight. If you're still a PH citizen & will travel on a PH passport, you can travel to PH even if you have < 6 months on it. (It's assumed that you will renew it in PH.)

yes, @Kitty S is right. You should renew, i think it's mandatory for international travel.

what if a country like Ireland has no philo embassy or consulate how do you get around that problem as Ireland had a philo problem up to the time before the Aquinos came into power so you would be very surprised of how many countries has no consulates now

My first trip there 23 years ago we handed the customs guy our paperwork with a discreet thousand peso bill tucked underneath. We were happy there was no need for that On subsequent trips.

Very helpful info as I plan to be in Cebu for 2 weeks this April. So if I have a pill travel container (clear plastic box for my daily supplement vitamins for 14 days), there's not going to be an issue with customs? I suppose if they toss them out I can go to a pharmacy and buy some.....just wondering if this will create any issue when arriving. Thank you again Jen!

@@Castapher If you have to check in your baggage for the airline, there won't be a problem. That's what I did. Carry on might be a different story - I can't speak on that one though.

I have a question: what if your personal items (ie cellphones, tablets or laptops) exceed 10k pesos in value? Would they have to be declared? If so, what are the declaration amounts? I've been traveling to the Philippines for years and have never been asked to declare such items. Cellphones and laptops alone can easily exceed this threshold.

you're right, me too... I never declared mine since they are for my personal use and they are all used. I never heard about this rule before, actually, this is the first time I heard about it. I just came back from my trip on Dec 18. My cellphone and iPad pro exceed that threshold too. I wonder when exactly this new rule was implemented.

This is exactly my question too. I am so confused whether or not to declare these devices for personal use. I will be going to the ph the first of March.

The key is "personal use". My gaming laptop (I'm from the UK) alone is in the region of PHP 90,000 but its my personal machine. No ones gonna bother if you have a lappy and 2 cellphones. They will only sit up and take note if they find 6 Samsung flagship phones , 2 laptops and 5 iPads in a suitcase. Saying "personal use" now wont work!
