I think you should review a Hanna Soil EC Meter, it has a sharp-tip that seems to accept being used in moist-medium. I'd buy you one but I don't have one for myself yet. I have been dreaming of growing on a drained-wetland like our great-great-great grandfathers did, by using a 3ft deep wicking bed that stays flooded all winter. I currently have a 15inch deep raised garden with a 8.1 ph on the top few inches & a 4.9ph at 16-inches deep, a wicking bed would allow me to reuse those leaching-acids.

I would boost it up to 1.8 by feeding 2.8 and 6.1 ph, and it would end up near 1.8 at 6.1ph, if I overfeed the past 1.8ec PH will dip below 5.8ph

EC of 1.0 could be either 500 ppm or 700 ppm depending on which scale was used to set up the meter. The 700 scale is more prevalent in European countries, the 500 scale is more common in the USA.

first off love drops of balance!!! having a much better grow with it, from the seedlings to the flowering its worth the money! thanks for introducing it to me!!! here's the dumb question of the week!.....i pre mix my nutrients and balance ph. There are times my nutes sit between feedings of the different plants. When i recheck usually a day or 2 after mixing, my ph its always off and has to be rebalanced...is this normal? I've really never paid a lot of attention to until this most recent grow and now after quite a few years it has me concerned. Thanks for your help your great products!!!!1

Yes it is normal. You can add a little BAM to help drop the ph

I get dilutions of the medium when the medium is wet, and when the medium is dry I get additions of the EC. so I can work out mathematically, and due to regulating and monitoring of how much the plant consumes on every feed/ watering runoff; that if the plant medium is dry at 1.3ec 6.4ph and I feed 1.3ec and 6.2ph, my result should be 2.6 at 6.1ph as 1.3+1.3= 2.6, If my ph is low I use a higher PH towards 6.4 again using the Ph scale as a reference to averaging its balance. If my medium is wet and runoff is 1ec, and ph 6.4, this is a dilution/ average of the runoff and input values, so I then feed 3EC and 6.4 (PH with silicon before week 4) which is diluted by the wet medium to 2ec and PH 6.1. due to the high input EC I put a higher input Ph in order to buffer for the input nutrient concentration driving the Ph lower towards 5.6... I will then usually water with 6.1 ph water or additional Calmag etc if required however this is more for charging your medium at the start of flower, however if you can identify the method and its effects as above you can charge the medium and then trickle charge throughout flower with some degree of accuracy and even make estimations of consumption of other plants is larger plants mathematically. and have more control of your Ph if you are watering Ph water.
