Once dry, is there a recommended weight per gallon usage?

Great question! There's "too much" which would be something like a whole "muffin" of pH Pill in 10 gallons of water (I've done it, no big deal) but that's an unnecessary high end. You could do 1/4 of one in ten gallons. In 1000 gallons I'd easily heave 5-6 pH pill "muffins" in there or one whole kitty litter Pill. (8 x 10 inch and 3/4 inch thick. You kind of get the idea that they're pretty safe unless it's a fish that really prefers soft, alkaline water. Koi can sometimes get Shimi (black freckles) from hard alkaline water. But that's not always a "thing".
