Fantastic! Thanks for proving through showing instead of just telling! Too many KZbin content creators out there just telling people a hypothetical growing concept, while not truly demonstrating that it even works the way they say it does. These downspouts are practically no work at all: No pH testing, adjusting, or buffering; No TDS/EC testing; No air pumps; No water pumps; No monitoring/adjusting water levels; No changing out nutrient solutions mid-grow; No need to add nutrients after initial fill; No fiddling with drip irrigation, hoses, or timers; No weeding; No digging; No mulching; etc. The most complicated issue I'm finding with these downspouts is what to do with all the plants once they're ready to harvest. You can only give your neighbors so much lettuce before it starts getting weird... Thankfully, we found a soup kitchen in the city that is happy to take everything we can spare. Keep on teaching and uploading!

Thanks so much. I know for a fact you are legit with your growning methods. I am living proof that we need none of these things. I subscribed with you, for that reason alone, and I'm taking time to watch what you do with all you video's. I respect and appreciate your truth. I've been told the same things, I need a pump, check water ph, check soil ph, buy hydroponic nutrients ect. My thoughts was opposite. I have 19 fish tanks, and I'm thinking what better fluid to use then my fish urine water & poop, so that's what I tried. The seedlings sprout & 2-3 days and my plants grow healthy and strong. I take my sponge filter and ring it very well in a bucket and use that as fertilizer just twice a month. The rest of the month, I use the water inside my tanks for watering. I want to start my on channel, soon as I figure out the correct way of bringing people together with this easy way of growing food for my family. More importantly I want to grow and share, specially with folks who have no or little money. We are all important, but I want to put those people before me. Negativity will come to us both, but let's stay strong for eachother and those who need us. I was ecstatic just to see I wasn't the only person using what I call The Expensive Hype Meds For Growing Food or my favorite Food For Thoughts. Your doing great, I trust you. If you have 1 person(me)that's a message that will grow to many of people. People share with people. I spread your works. By the way you really made me laugh with the statement of giving to neighbors. We feel like it's creepy, but they appreciate it. They'll miss those heads of lettuce, trust me😂🤣. Thanks for the laugh and your uplifting message. Your amazing keep growing while showing!

I bought those meters when I first started but you’re absolutely right....too time consuming to continue to use. Bottom line, if you’re plants are thriving and you’re eating your veggies no matter the path to get there. Plus no batteries needed for those of us who wants to be off grid. I’d be totally impress if you can do off grid aquaponics. 😃

I think what I appreciate the most about this video is the integrity of the system that he has developed for himself and others. The only time I use meters is when something is going wrong with my plants. However, it is easy to figure out what is wrong and what you can do to correct it without measuring any levels within your system. For instance, nutrient burn is very easy to identify and I don't need meters to tell me that. So I love this method he has going on here. It's really helpful because I think this industry has been avoided by so many for so long because of all the complicated aspects. This is the perfect way to start, and in fact I believe everybody should start In this exact same manner. You learn a whole lot more about your plants and nutrients without needing a chart or a table to tell you what to do.

I get why you cant do it. Good on you. Im impressed. Im lucky i tested my stuff from the git go and found out my well water was terrible. Super high EC from mostly lime. Had to get a reverse osmosis system to have the proper water to start with. Love your simplicity and testing like the poodle noodles.
@daveborchard2019
@daveborchard2019 4 жыл бұрын
To maximize your hydroponic growth you need to start with reverse osmosis water thats less than 20 ppm, ideally less than 10 ppm. Then you set your nutrient concentration level and pH. However, you can grow hydroponically without doing those things. I don’t know how much growth rate would be lost. The same goes for using deep water culture without adding air to the nutrient. When you add air to the nutrient, the growth rate is noticeably improved. Deep water culture is a lot of work to optimize your nutrient. I grow with deep water culture. I used reverse osmosis clean water, and I’ve measured the nutrient concentration and pH on new batches of nutrient. So, I know how much pH up to add for each 5 gallon batch. I use the 3 part Masterblend, Calcium Nitrate, and Epsome salt nutrient components measured with a gram scale for consistent nutrient concentration. However, over many weeks or months, the pH and nutrient concentration levels change, and I don’t bother to try to adjust the pH or nutrient levels. After several months, I replace the nutrient with fresh nutrient which has close to the correct pH and nutrient level. I think if you want to try to maintain you pH and nutrient levels, you need to have a larger reservoir tank. Then buy pH and TDS meters that are connected to a controller and systolic pumps. That would lock the pH and nutrient levels in the reservoir tank. Then you’d need to use NFT, or fill and drain. Deep water culture isn’t practical to automate the pH and nutrient levels, unless the nutrient tank is your grow area, like in a large greenhouse operation. There’s a lot of other things that could be optimized, like the type and quantity of light, humidity and temperature, and the CO2 level. But it’s amazing what kind of results you can obtain without optimizing anything!

From my understanding most ppl only check ph and water nutrients when they do a water change. They do it in a 5g bottle and fix ph then use that bottle to replace water once every 2 weeks. The ph lvl is for maximum nutrient absorption level. Im new to hydroponics and i am really overwhelmed with all these information. I just bought a ph and ec metter but im a bit scared to use it. Watching so many Indians and Phillipino hydroponic gardeners. They are pretty straightforward. Plant + water mixed with seeweed = a big fat produce. My humble advice for anyone trying to do this. You just use the meter to test the water in the jug your going to use to water the plants with. You don't have to check each bed. You control the pH in that respect. I really appreciate this! I’m testing lavender seeds in soil vs a zip locked paper towel (towel is winning, btw). My runoff for soil seeds is testing at a PPM of 16-20 using only distilled water. They have fungus gnats, so now I care. First thing I did was test my tap and that just blinked a red 50. It’s startling when ya expect a PH number, like 5.02-7.4 or whatever and get 50. You ain’t missing much of nothing on the dark side. Now my gal grows MJ full force in the pine tree state. I shocked her with an NPK of 19-19-19 for roses. That’s startling for someone in full canna veg, feeding more like 6-2-6. Keep that in your hat for when a stoner gets clouty. We’re all plant parents, but our “children” ain’t the same. Lol

Sure, call me what you want. I get messages all the time from people who say they could not afford to start or were overwhelmed by all the information. With this quick and easy method, they say tgey have begun and thank me. People from all over the planet. They can always advance once they learn the basics but I never will because there are always more people that need to learn and I will show them a non intimidating, inexpensive way to start. If doing that makes me a hack, I proudly will wear that badge. Thank you so much for this, you made my Sunday friend.

Not ignorance friend, experience. This is bare minimum to help get everyone interested, they can always step up later. Just because it seems easy to you does not mean it is easy for everyone. I am not being stubborn, just sharing what I have done for the past 8 yrs. Never had one meter, probably never will. A lot of ppl that were previously discouraged have now given it a try. A little compassion goes a long wsy. 😎🤘🌱

Thats great that you dont have a meter, but if you want to know the science and grow the best possible products you use a tds and p.h. meter. Its not as complicated as you make it sound. If the p.h. is out, you plants are not ABLE to intake nutrients. You can grow sure. But never at full potential But honest, you sound like a musician who brags about not knowing theory. Its a bad look.

I do not care what I sound like. Not everyone will give hydro a chance because of the up front cost and learning curve. I give everyone a chance to get their feet wet. They can always advance later. I have over 30 containers going at any given time. I do not have the time to check and adjust that many and most people would not do it either. I don't claim to be an expert, but I have 3 years of videos showing it works.

@@KeepOnGrowin dude, testing soil ph is not new, literally thousands of years old, and growing hydro under its potential for lack of $20 is retarded. Fscts matter .

@@MrDmadness The fact is I have done it for 8 yrs and not used one. I have 3 yrs of videos showing people can do without. Those who want to use one can but I am including everyone. If I had to check the ph in 30 containers every day, I would not be doing it. Not everyone wants the "optimum" garden. Some just want to grow a little something and enjoy the process. Some people jump on a bike and some need training wheels. It's not just a $20 meter, It's $20 on top of other stuff you bought. Air pumps are also relatively cheap but you don't see any in my systems. I am happy with my crops and if I have to put in 10x the energy to make it "a little" better, then I pass. If this bothers you, there are plenty of other channels out there that use them. If you read my comments, I even left a link to a ph meter if anyone wanted to use one and pointed them to another channel to learn how to use it. I am sorry that this bothers you, but I will not bend, lol, never had one, never will get one.

Some ppl don't have the money. I want to include everyone. I also have 30 to 40 containers. It would take the whole day to balance. You are free to use them but I am showing ppl it is possible to grow without them too. I know how to use them, I choose not to.
