The grizzled Sergeant asked, his eyes piercing into the fabric of his young Neophyte "I...I do not know, Brother Sergeant..." the Neophyte responded respectfully. "It's a simple question, you need only think closely," the Sergeant spoke with a patient voice. "Is it the vast arsenal we carry aboard here? The array of wargear the Chapter has collected over ten millennia? What of the records in our vaults dating back to the founding of the Imperium? The many shrines and reliquaries honoring hundreds of heroes who took up the Aquila to serve the Emperor?" "Then I would have to say the Phalanx itself, Brother Sergeant..." the Neophyte answered, albeit unsure of his reply. "A decent answer, but not quite correct," the Sergeant said with avuncular disappointment. "It isn't in parchment, ceramite, or adamantium that our glory is written, it is in flesh and blood. The most valuable thing on this vessel are your Brothers, young Neophyte. No weapon nor monument supercedes that. A bolter is useless without the one who wields it, power armor is naught but an empty husk without the Marine behind it, and the Phalanx itself a derelict without a Chapter of the Emperor's Angels at its helm. When our Brothers defended Terra against the Arch-Traitor, they did not possess anything material the Heretics did not already have in greater number. No secret weapons, no limitless stash of wargear, no countless fleets of ships. All they had was one another. All they had was the Chapter, that's what made the difference. Every Marine here is willing to lay down their lives for the Emperor, for the Primarch, for Mankind, and, most importantly, for their Brothers. You do right by them, and in turn they will stand by you to the end. That alone has brought immeasurable honor and glory to the Imperial Fists, and it will continue to do so until the galaxy is at last safe for the Imperium, in so long as we keep faith in one another. That's what it means to be an Astartes, lad. Not trust in weapons or ships, trust in brotherhood, and once you learn that, you'll be ready to stand among our ranks as a true Battle Brother."

@@Elia-fn8jv Well, if you want the Blood Angels' relationship to the Red Thirst and the Black Rage to become uninteresting, and the sacrifice of Sanguinius to lose all its symbolism and importance, yes, this is what his return will cause. I'm a very old Warhammer 40k fan but I lost track of the setting when I stopped playing after I moved and lost my armies. 😢 I got back into it sort of recently and I'm reading the novels and stories. The Horus Heresy series is amazing. I can't remember when I last read a story that makes me laugh and cheer one minute, chew on my nails in fear in another, and break down and cry for still another. Haven't started the series proper yet, reading some of the prequel stories and other plot lines first. I think in another month I'll be starting Horus Rising. The nervous excitement is building; can't wait
