I'm currently about to 'craft' thinking about this. Just listen. What if Dan joined the army, and on the day he was supposed to come home, everyone was coming out of the plane, and Phil was waiting for him to come out, but instead, a man came up to him and gave him a paper and all he said was "Sorry for your loss" before walking away. Phil read the paper, telling him that Dan was presumed dead, because he disappeared during a raid. Phil breaks down, and goes home broken and crying. A year later, Phil is moving out of the flat, and he finds a box of old photos of him and Dan on TATINOF. He starts to cry, but he's still smiling, thinking of the brown haired boy he lost and the times they had together. When he gets a knock at his door, he assumes it's his neighbor, let's call her Charlotte, who's been checking in on him for the past year as he got over his loss. "Charlotte, I told you, I'm doing just fi-" He cuts himself off as he looks up, and sees Dan, caked with dirt, in his uniform, tears in his eyes, right in front of him. "Dan?" He asks quietly, tears falling slowly. He practically tackles him in a hug, never wanting to let go. "I'm home." Dan whispers. Tell me that is not the saddest thing you've ever fucking heard. What is my mind. *edit from about a year later* ok holy shit this... this became so popular and im literally a cringey 13 year old on the internet and someone posted this on their phan page a couple weeks ago and holy shit i cant even begin to tell you how honestly ecstatic i am. I honestly believe that's what happened to them. I think in their own special way, without putting labels on what they were, fell in love. But people on the outside just wouldn't leave it alone. And with their relationship being so new, different and innocently fragile and Dan being so incredibly young, they broke it off. However, their friendship, their obvious need for each other kept them each in each other's life. They're best friends. Maybe they decided that's what they can be right now, maybe it will be more again...and maybe it won't. Which is sad because it was so beautiful. Those 2009 videos are precious. But they have and always choose each other again and again. So that is what matters.

Dan was always lonely before and felt second best most of the time. He even left university and then went on to live with Phil. I've watched this video to many times to count. Every time I watch others I hunt down this one because of how beautiful it is. It really shows their friendship. Let me just say something real quick... I am so happy that we have them back. There were those few years when they got all awkward and defensive about anything Phan related after "it" happened. In the past two years, I feel like they're calming down about it. It makes me happy, as a Phan shipper, to see them like this again.

Elena Shiner Hm. I probably shouldn't talk about this, but I think that you deserve to know too. In 2010, I think it was, they recorded a Valentine's day video. They basically said that they were in a relationship and were talking about memories from 2009, eg. kissing on the Manchester eye. Phil put it on private on his channel, but there was a glitch and it became public. He deleted it as soon as he found out, but everyone had seen it. They told everyone that it was a prank and that they were supposed to upload it on the day, then tell everyone the day after that they were joking, but no one really believed it. Now we are just not allowed to talk about the video to spare their embarrassment. For a few years, Dan became very awkward around Phil and shut it down whenever there was a Phan reference. It seems like we have them back now :) Again, I feel like I shouldn't be talking about this, but because most people know, I think you should too, seeing as you're a member of the Phandom too.

Okay so last night, I was hanging out with my cousin and I started to talk about Dan & Phil. And she then said "ewwww I hate them!" I was like "WHAT?!?!?!!!?!?!" dan and phil's relationship reminds me of my own relationship. I came into middle school scared and alone, but i was bright and happy. I met my girlfriend in my homeroom, inventing a thing called the 'fly wave', which is basically flailing your hand. Alaina was dark and alone, as her mom was dead, her dad was broken with no job, and she had no hope in life. I brought her under my wing and she never opened up because she was scared. She had loved before and it turned out horrible. But i brought her out into the light, and now, one year later, we are in a happy, healthy relationship. We are like dan and phil in our own way. I'm scared to think what would've happened if i havent found her.
