The way this song builds up is just brilliant. If I remember correctly, it corresponded to the number of members in your party (more characters = more dramatic overworld theme), which added to the emotional investment one had in the game. This is truly one of the best game soundtracks ever.

Yeah. And then if the current main character is KOd, it switches to a different more dire track entirely. I love how the game builds on this with new instruments with each character added, starting off feeling lonely and forboding and ending adventurous and brave sounding.

Phantasy Star 3 is my first true RPG game ever. It holds a special place in my heart. After, almost thirty years, this game needs a remastered version. Sadly, I don't think there will be one. Phantasy Star should have been like Final Fantasy, in that a new installment was released every few years. Once Phantasy Star 4 came out and ended the story, the dev just moved onto other projects and ideas. Sure, there are titles like Phantasy Star Online 2, which is on the Playstation 4 but only in Japan. The feel is different. Phantasy Star 3 is how I judged all the other Phantasy Star titles and because it was so different from the others - I never really got into them as much.

I think Lilipa planet from PSO2 has some resemblance to PS3 Desertic areas with tall electronic towers and underground pasages with metal and crystal corridors, similar to PSO's desert crater area having remixes of PS3 music on its BGM

I'm playing this on the ultimate sonic genesis, it may be flawed but I like it. I feel like if this was remastered with true effort it can easily compete or exceed what fans consider the best in the series.

Phantasy Star III Opening theme is the best video game theme ever made. And this "overworld" theme is just memorable... The remix is great!

Very well done. The game was way ahead of its time. The heroism and drama were only slightly realized with the technology of the time. To hear this now really put me in the place I felt when I had played it so long ago. Thank you for such a powerful interpretation of this brilliant theme!

Oh yeah, this remake does the original song great frigging justice! Love the guitar, and how everything comes together. It fits, and great slideshow, one of the few that I actually enjoyed watching.

This game has grown on me, even though it was a black sheep of the series. I would like a remake of this game with the combat being more like Phantasy Star 4 or 2, and each character have their own skill sets.

part 2 and 4, at least you can see your charc while fighting, this one you can't, however what seperate this game from all rpg's that I came across is the marriage system.

First discovered this game on Sega Channel after playing Phantasy Star IV. Those Fearmoos enemies destroyed me in Shusoran. Also, I recall those Hopliz enemies in Climatrol being pretty merciless too.

They are! Monsters in Gen 1 are among the toughest to beat your characters are so bad.

I know people have their gripes about this game, but I love it. Even the random encounters every 3 steps. Glad you included the best character of all, Sean. His pic shows up at the perfect timing with the song. Thea really should have been in here too though. :(

You can buy 2 Royal Needlers with Ayn without much effort. With that, Ayn can take a whole half of ennemies on his own ! So, Sari (and others) become useless... Yes, i've recently replayed PS 3 ! But in another hand, if Sari and Ayn are badass, what about their son !!

A remake of this game would put majority of the rpg's in its graveyard. No disrespect, I rather see this being re-done then FF7 Remake ANYDAY!!! If they remake this game, properly, OMFG!, Forget about it. I would be in complete tears. If any game in general I would like to see remade, hate to tell you all, it would be this game.
