Phantasy Star II - Any% Speedrun (

I honestly didn't think it was possible, but this is a sub 55 run of this game. Mota was pretty incredible barring some execution mistakes I made, while Dezo was below average. However, Dark Force was unbelievable, with the best RNG I have ever seen for the fight. Very pleased with this. -- Watch live at / jiseed

Seriously. Such vitriol on this run where no one in the running community _anywhere else_ seems to have a problem with recognizing that any% pretty much guarantees exploiting any and all possible glitches that result in time saves, so long as they aren't tool assisted.

So, you totally broke Nei. Not only you managed to avoid her to die within history events, but also you made her to be untouchable, get almost unlimited items, and Dezo fights gave her like 5 level up each one. Oh, and Rolf is dead half of the speedrun.

Always find it funny watching a game get beat in minutes that I spent MONTHS on. Dungeon Master is the worst. Took me so much time levelling up everyone and solving puzzles and finding my way round, and someone comes along and does it from scratch in 22 minutes!

@@KrystoferKlove I forget the details since it's been years but if you're opening and closing the menu while leaving the dungeon and you get into a random battle, you'll teleport to a different spot than you'd expect upon leaving. I discovered this glitch like 15 years ago but it's very difficult to replicate.

Climatrol was never done, and beating Climatrol is what flags the game to start having machine enemies instead of biomonsters No machines means no encounters in the dams because they're ALL machines

To clarify, Tiem is his daughter She was kidnapped and held to ransom so he was killing passersby to loot their corpses for valuables and buy her safety You rescue her and she runs up to confront her father, without thinking to take off the disguise she was wearing to avoid being attacked by the kidnappers again He didn't recognise her, she yelled at him, he slew her and then realised who she was He then blew himself up, unable to take the guilt

HEELZ0509 'any%' usually permits the use of glitches in speed runs. Usually those glitches are hard to exploit and demonstrate a skillset harder than the original game. Often as well, they are used to demonstrate specific programming errors and how silly and fun they can be when exploited. Combine those with doing so as fast as possible, and you have an interest speed run.

@@DracoSuave I don't accept cheats in "any%," because there's a hard line between cheating to win and winning as fast as legitimately possible. If someone wants to exploit bugs/glitches and cheat, they should label it as such. If they are clear about the difference, then putting "any%" is much less misleading. For example, this one could have been labeled "Phantasy Star II -- any% cheatrun (no hacks) [time stamp]" The problem with introducing various kinds of cheating is the same as saying there are more than two genders--you are definitionally incorrect as well as adding unneeded and unwanted complexity that pollutes and dilutes the pool of legitimate examples. To take the analogy one step further, say you want to use a dating site that doesn't have a separate distinction for trans people and you're a straight man looking for a straight woman, but you run into this problem where there are all these trans "women" in the way that waste your time when they should have been categorically excluded. Definitions matter. Do not cloud them.
