in 1989 I was 10 years old, when I was 14 the father of a friend had a boat shop and sent us out with a 300 v8 outboard in a small boat. The driver was 15 and I and a friend were 14, only the 3 of us had the boat to ourselves.

Those engines are so loud that you could even hear them quite a ways behind the boat above the wind noise and beating of the rotor blades.

I was running a Shakespeare 6 metre back in 1990. It was based on the earlier, but still very deep v design. Great spray rails and a decent inverted chine. I had a Mercury, 2.4 litre 'Offshore' V6. The triple, carb, pre 'EFI' version. I had it set up for water-ski racing so running a 24" pitch, Merc 'Chopper' surface piercing propeller. I had that up to 75 mph. A 25 foot Phantom or Ring, running 2x2 litre with the racing boxes. They can clearly be seen in the video. I am guessing 90+ mph is more likely. If you look at that boat, it is completely stripped and running the engines very high.

The driver of this Speedy Boat was Jo Tribolo. His boat went up to 145Km/h (90 MPH / 78 Knot) The motors were 3.0 Limited Edition

I've asked the question to the guys racing in this period, they have told me less than this, something around 90mph+ is more realistic for the black P25 2 x200GT, I remember the Piranha carrera 2.4 EFI was checked at 82mph helicopter speedo
