Phantom 4 Pro obstacle avoidance blind spot test

These tests may not be very entertaining but for a​ prospective P4pro owner this is just what we need to see! So if you notice more obstacles that get overlooked let us know. I wonder if firmware updates will help. Probably a hardware limitation. I'm still planning on purchasing the P4p (already sold the P4) cause I really need the upgraded camera for my work. Thanks

yea i think alot of people buying and upgrading thinking those side sensors going to save them but your videos shows u cant trust them i glad i got the p4 i like th p4p casue it has good option that the p4 doesnt have n thank you again awsome job

I'm with you on this one. The only real advantage that I can see is the camera. Even then the Phantom 4 is just fine. Unless you are a professional, it is not that much of an upgrade. I have found to many flaws with the obstacle avoidance on this bird.

yea and since the p4 is my first bird i figure i start with the p4 nice time i upgrade iam sure they would be a p5 and ill then get the p4p as a second bird

So, this would suggest that any tracking or follow me, as well as return to home has a 70% chance of ending in a crash!

Not really, the bird will fly straight when in that mode, just have to be careful when flying manually near obstacles.

In tripod mode, the front and side sensors work well, but in P-mode, you have to be careful.

Anyone relying on sensors to protect a $2,000 investment is silly. Same with sensors on cars. Don't park or switch lanes relying on the cars sensors. It's only there to help. But do not rely on it!!

"Only front and rear sensors work in P mode" I was shocked to hear this. Beginner mode and tripod mode are the only times you have all sensors. I haven't seen this mentioned in ANY other video. You would think that DJI training videos would mention it! they go on about speed and height restrictions in beginner mode so everyone is keen to get into P mode ASAP. They do bang on about all round sensors on the sales adverts but. Pffft

I contacted DJI online support. They insist that all round obstacle avoidance works in P mode....not just beginner/tripod modes
