Phantom Liberty Could Cook Your CPU? | Yesterday's Games Today

Hello to you and welcome to Back Alley Gamers in Yesterday's Games Today, hosted by me, Alex Herndon.
With Cyberpunk 2077's new DLC, Phantom Liberty releasing later this month, CD Projekt Red is getting us pumped and ready to dive in. But we've been given a big warning from their lead programmer too.
Filip Pierściński states from his X,
"Before release [ ] please check conditions of your cooling systems in PC. We use all what you have, so workload on CPU 90% on 8 core is expected."
A while back, Cyberpunk 2077 dropped an all new specs sheet needed for the improvements and changes coming with Phantom Liberty. One of the biggest changes being that an SSD is now a requirement to meet the game's minimum specs. Just like the recently released Starfield, and just the same as it being a quote "requirement" both games can be played with an HDD, however your performance will be greatly limited and hardware not supported.
This is no doubt due to the additional graphical settings being brought to the game with full ray tracing and use of DLSS 3.5. @@backalleygamers hold on just a bit longer. Haha.. Will be worth it. Knowing what they changing now, the game isn't currently worth playing as it is after the previous patch, 1.63.

Hoping the vehicle combat is intuitive and fun. On the run in Night City sounds like a blast.

Man these games are getting crazy by the year. Lazy ass devs don't wanna spend time on proper optimisation (because time is money? and all that corporate crap). Miss those days when gameplay was king not graphics.

Flashy graphics are great for trailers and promotional material. Publishers will go as far as to lie about the visuals to promote the product (i.e Killzone 2, Watchdogs, Rainbow Six Siege, and many more.) Gameplay should be king 👑

yea i'll be getting this on my ps5 lol, PC games man.. from Todd Howard telling me to upgrade my system to play his game.. to cdpr telling me my CPU might be in danger upgrade my cooling. i just wanna play a game man lol, i dont need all the graphics.

Completely understandable. Quite literally started a series of me going back to play old DOS PC games due to budget constraints to both buy and play newer releasing titles. Thinking about also doing some videos deep diving on the deterioration of PC scaling performance due to the crutch of AI assisted frame software (DLSS and FSR as an example). Thanks for commenting!
