I don’t know what bums you’re playing but once you get hit with a behind the back that triggers a tight handles animation it’s over. A comp guard that knows his fade or comp shooting slasher with fancy footwork is going to kill you every time unless you spam. Locks are only good for holding down centers, pure slashers and guards that play with screens.

Simple solution. Bring back 2k17 dribbling, keep stamina system, penalize shooters and finishers harder for over dribbling. SIMPLE....o and make big men stoppable again. I miss when you didn’t need a bigman to win. Realistic? Yea maybe. Fun? No. No reason I should be getting dropped off by a paint beast and a stretch big with no chance of winning.

2k17 was the best 2k. That was the last 2k I played where pure skill would get you win. You could argue that point towards and playmakers were OP but me and my teammates would streak from pure skill and get dropped off by a sharp and a glass because they simply put skilled us. Archetypes were balanced. U could argue that dribble moves were cheesy but despite me being a dribble god, I’d get locked up and clamped if I was matched with a better player. In this shitty ass 2k20 if a 90 ovr offensive threat gets on the spot, it’s gg for me. All they have to do is spam behind the back and he’ll be straight. This game is badge made and build made. 2k17 was overall and skill made. Bring back old 2k.

2 - 16 was my first 2k game and I was able to pick up the basics of dribbling in a decent amount of time. And I eventually was able to take ankles with ease. I just realized that's not my play style (to just cheese to be cheesing), but to have the ability to do it and flex when you want to. . .bruhhh lol. It was accessible to casuals/noobs without catering, the learning curve was there without being frustrating. I just think all the games that followed catered to both extremes of the 2k spectrum and left a lot of people in the dark, especially visable in 20.

WavyKey spamming the same overpowered moves every play that you learned on KZbin is exploiting, there’s no creativity no individuality there’s 100s of dribbling animations but these “dribblers” equip the same 5 as their favorite youtuber and spam them until the next game comes out and his next video drops, like homie said, KZbin killed 2K, mainly the “dribbling” side of it

That’s like me saying there’s so many characters in a fighting game but every only chooses the same 5 fighters . Why ? Because they’re the best . Jaylen archer you’re missing the point, there’s a different between being the best and being an exploit, do people in fighting games spam one move the entire match or do they switch it up? Does every pro in the fighting game scene use the same exact character the exact same way as everyone else? Unpopular opinion 2k20 is kinda nice on the pure playmaker build and the dribbling you can combo with the behind the back new dribbles are being learned everyday. I know it might not seem as fun as 19 and because the bullshit by Ronnie downgrades the overall popularity but it’s more of a skill based game compared to like 17 were you could sit a big body and knock the person to the ground or like in 19 the pushing was horrendous but people didn’t stop playing it.

As someone who played 2k16 for over 2 years and skipped 17, you youtubers gotta stop spreading this lie that the speed boosting patch someone killed dribbling, and that 2k17 was somehow a fun game. The speed boosting patch made trash cans even more trash, but the rest of us who weren't using it as a crutch did just fine without it. Till the servers were taken down, 2k16 was being played heavy by people with all types of play styles. And 2k17 is and will always be trash. KZbinrs and their bad takes is what has killed this franchise.

Explosive behind the back was in the game when the game came out. It was just for tier 2 dribbling and then poor boy son cried for it to get switched to tier 3

1:54 what do you mean, that was a good mechanic. Back in the days when it was less arcadey and still had an element of actual basketball simulation. Nobody makes 100% of their shots. Post patch 2K16 was great. No speed boosting makes it feel like I'm actually playing basketball. You have to think about what moves to do to get around the defender based on how they play you, speed boosting just felt way too video gamey.

2k16 the BEST 2k ever released! It had everything perfect.The shooting,dribbling,passing etc. I cant remember how many hours I logged on that game because of how fun it was.I retired as an L3 on it. It was a fun grind.Hope 2k makes something similiar in the future!
