I have the following problem: The melting temperatures of two fully soluble metals A and B in the liquid state are 1300 and 800 ° C, respectively. An alloy of the system at 601 ° C is in the liquid state and at 599 ° C it has a single component, the ratio of the solid phases being 4: 1, and one of them has a maximum solubility of A in B of 20% at 600 ° C. and 15% at room temperature. At 800 ° C, a solid phase of the system, which consists of one of the metals in the pure state and another phase in a different physical state with a composition in B of 40%, is converted into a new phase AB3. Data: Ma (A) = 70, Ma (B) = 10 a) Create the binary phase diagram of the A-B system. b) Define all existing phases, the liquid and solid curve as well as the Solvus line

Is the eutectic point always over the 50 % composition or is it sometimes other than 50 % composition?
@Philleatsfood8 жыл бұрын
Perhaps a few years late, but i believe it varies depending on the substances in question
@chr1s4rmstrong264 жыл бұрын
eutektikum is the lowest possible temperature in which a substance melts...so depending on what the substance is... p.s. sry for the late reply, only just received your message

Easy question; How does Z -> L divided by T2 -> L give you the percentage of solid? I mean, why would you measure between two different component ratios? Surely that's nonsense...

It is the lever rule derived by mass balance en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lever_rule#Binary_phase_diagrams
@dougcullen648010 жыл бұрын
The actual curves have been empirically (experimentally) determined. Sometimes the eutectic point will be 50% and other times another value

Would some knowledgeable person be so kind as to explain as the temperature drops that crystals of B aren't formed at the same time as A?

your explanation is perfect but your diagram is not visible. ..
