Wow! This is an _AMAAAAAZING_ description of the phase diagram. Your calm and thorough explanation of each detail made it much more understandable for me than the wild and frenetic pace at which my physics class is ordinarily taught that usually makes my brain whirl. I was absorbing the material rather than watching it whiz by as a flurry of color, points and random lines on a chart. 😰 Thank you for taking your time to share your knowledge! You are a _blessing!_ 🌟Thank you so much! 📚🌼

Sir, your explanation is very good throughout the video, but I would like to add a point to this, these all things are true if we assume pressure remains constant. Though in your definition of equilibrium phase diagram you gave a clue that we can see variation with pressure as well, indicating you assumed it constant in temperature and composition phase diagram.

in iron-carbon diagram you will not find substition, bcs. Fe and C has another structures (here have Ni and Cu both CCP structures, that why is substititon possible). In Fe and C diagram you will find interstitials - basicaly explaind: In each structure, there are free spaces, vacancies or cavities, so-called interstitials, between individual atoms and ions. If an ion or atom is placed in such a vacancy, we speak of interstitial substitution or interstitial solid solution. Electrical neutrality must also be maintained with this type of substitution.

Cubic close packed is also termed as FCC (Face centered cubic)
@introductiontomaterialsscience
@introductiontomaterialsscience Жыл бұрын
It is quite common to consider CCP and FCC as synonyms. However, I wish to distinguish between them. I consider FCC as one of the 14 Bravais lattices and CCP as a crystal structure with FCC as its lattice and a single atom motif located at 0,0,0. Thus CCP is only one of the structures which can be based on an FCC lattice, Other examples of structures with FCC lattice are Diamond Cubic and NaCl.

No, they can be considered synonymous in most cases. But sometimes you may represent metastable phases in the diagram. Then it is not really an equilibrium diagram.

It appears complicated, but not more so than the Fe-C diagram discussed later in this course. The three horizontals correspond to three invariant reactions. The lowest temperature one is a eutectic and the other two are peritectic. If you complete all the videos in the phase diagram playlist it will help.

@rajeshprasad101

I am calling it Cubic Close Packed (CCP) which describes the crystal structure. CCP crystal structure is FCC lattice with one atom basis. If you call it FCC you are giving only the lattice. Basis information is missing. Often by saying FCC we assume a single atom basis. But consider NaCl which also has FCC lattice but has two atom basis and is thus not CCP.
