PM uses frequency modulator to combine the signals, while FM uses phase modulator to combine the signals. That helped me understand a lot. ty sir.

Dear Sir thank you for a beautiful lecture. I have doubt that "How differentiation of frequency will be a phase?" (in Video 5:28). Another query is, in a square wave example we can clearly observe the change in phase and no change in frequency but in the example of the sinusoidal wave, we can observe the change in frequency as well. Please explain this.

sir as per the concept of pm when phase chanege is negetive the frequency ofpm wave increases.But in case of sqaure wave after the phase reversal when phase change becomes negetive 180 the picture shows the frequency of the pm wave does not changes.It should increase the frequency..sir i didnot understand ...please help me

I find the last example, modulating with a square wave, confusing. If the phase changes from +180 to -180 the actual change is 360. And that equals no change.

The drawing for the phase modulated version of the sinusoidal modulating signal is wrong. The instantaneuos frequency changes in accordance with the derivative of the modulating signal. So, the frequency deviation is positive only when the slope of the message signal is positive.

And what are the benefits using PM instead FM if the only difference is when modulating low frequency on carrier the positive slope becomes spread (lower frequency carrier distortion) and on negative slope becomes denser compressed (higher frequency carrier distortion) and on FM is opposite? I just know that with FM receiver you can listen both modulations FM and PM with no problem, but then why using PM?

The 2 PM plot, you done...is still the same expected output? One, u seem to compressed/expand And another is invert it to 180 degree

What if message signal doesn't aquire negative values ( means graph above the time axis ) then how we use phase modulation ? Because term [ Kp*m(t) ] will always be positive so no change in phase polarity . P.S. may be a right explaination is slope of m(t) affect the phase. +ve slope = Lead -ve slope = lag

Sir as per the definition of phase modulation the phase of the carrier should change but while coming to the modulated wave it is looking similar to frequency modulated wave differentiate both practically and explain don't just dictate or else say
@EngineeringFunda
@EngineeringFunda 6 жыл бұрын
Practically not much difference but one can say it is differentiation phase to get PM and integration results into FM
@balajibaheti8577
@balajibaheti8577 5 жыл бұрын
here the main difference is that the variation in the signal in case of FM is due to sine waveform! hence we get max and min value on corresponding max and min of msg signal as it is sine wave!! now PM is varing with derivative of sine function i.e. cosine function! so we get maxima and minima in PM at zero crossing of sin wave i.e . phase shifted max and min of cosine wave!!
