Benedict Cumberbatch shoot for Vanity Fair by Jason Bell | Phase One

Discover what happens when Oscar nominated actor Benedict Cumberbatch and photographer Jason Bell collaborated on this one-of-a-kind photo shoot for the March 2015 edition of Vanity Fair magazine.
The shoot took place in London’s Wimbledon Common and involved capturing the actor in several shooting scenarios including dog handling, a leap from a tree and a backwards dive into a lake. Jason Bell used his Phase One camera system to shoot all the action.

he is very talkative, there were a lot of great input on his creative process, I like the back and forth between him and benedict, how to get someone to do something you actually envisioned can be an excruciating, you must explain it through and through so the model can get a sense of what you're trying to accomplish, a good editorial photographer must communicate a lot. If it's your vision you must own it and don't let a refusal get the best of you.

I love that for the first picture, the photographer said "HOUND" they had a ton of mist, and is it just me or do the two dogs look like Redbeard (yeah Redbeard isn’t exactly really but whatever) . For the second picture, of course Benedict had to be all mysterious with his cheekbones and his coat collar turned up. This is like the Sherkockian dream.
