I swear effects are just weird... for instance to me, the Maestro PS-1 is such a beautiful deep swirling sound it doesn’t give that sort of jet type of sound. I seem to get a close sound using a bad mistress with chorus and flange on. Chorus lacks the depth alone IMO. I may just buy me a PS-1 and compare all the effects myself. I feel sometimes there is an overlap where you can get a very similar sound from any of them depending on the pedal settings.

Phase and Flange are too different. There's no reason to not have both. As long as it doesn't have to be the Boss Phasor - which many don't like - I'd say both. The Boss Flanger is GREAT. I'd pair it with an MXR Phase 45 or 95.

I've got the PS-3 Phase Shifter myself! And I still love it very much! 🙃 My Flanger is a brand called Axcess by Gianinni and it's pretty classic sounding! If that makes sense.
