Great video! If I may, lil tip for carving. Try to dig your heel and toe side edges in the snow more. Way cleaner turns and you're less likely to catch an edge. I was worried for ya the whole time! Look for me! Guy in a bright green/yellow jacket with a black sandbox helmet with a blue rim. I'm up there every weekend! Gotta ride together! (Edit: not in powder lol)

Luckily I’ve never caught an edge before. Well maybe my first times riding ever but that’s it. My edges are mega dull so sometimes they don’t dig in. I’ve been working on it though. I should really work on carving thoigh so I can set up for spins off park jumps

@@PhaseSkater definitely! Hey, if you want to, me and some of the bros are going up Sunday morning. Interested?? We can all go hit up the backside. Good pow from what I've seen!

I went to bogus yesterday for my first time ever it was so fun and I’m definitely gonna get into snow boarding

Coincidentally you went on my favorite run. Bogus is a great place to go for sure, and I finally got a GoPro so I can do stuff like this too! Here you have some great powder, that was probably the best Bogus got the whole year, considering the snow was kinda iffy the whole year.

@@PhaseSkater kinda cool to look back right? Every year I set new goals for progression… been doing that for 4-5 years. I post vids on here too and it’s super fun to look back and see how much better you have become 👍

Yup! When I first did this double black Diamond my heart was racing and I was having to really focus and be careful. Now I could do it faster, with my hands in my pockets, and have a calm heart rate and also better form and posture lol

How come boards blast green but skid down black,they must move a ton of snow from the top of mt. To bottom.
@PhaseSkater3 жыл бұрын
well it was my first ever year riding as a beginner and a double black... obviously you cant skid when you get to my level now doing cliff drops and chutes. gotta point the nose down hill and send it
@trentforce48143 жыл бұрын
Any tips on how you can just go straight down on the steep hill. I tend to get scared and don’t go down forwards. Haven’t built up the confidence
@PhaseSkater3 жыл бұрын
Practice doing it on flatter green hills when the snow is smooth and groomers are fresh first thing in the morning. Then over time you get more comfortable doing it on steeper and bumpier runs

Bogus Basin doesn't have any real double blacks. It is weird they even claim to. I just checked and Tamarack's wildwood doesn't even have any double blacks and most of that area is more difficult when there is deep snow. Oh well.
@PhaseSkater3 жыл бұрын
Deep snow difficult? Thought that makes steeps easier. Icy and thin coverage on steeps is what’s hard
@hb70303 жыл бұрын
@@PhaseSkater It depends, but most of the areas I am talking about have more trees. I would agree that these runs are black, but a double black is really being generous to the difficult of these runs.
@PhaseSkater3 жыл бұрын
@@hb7030 i think the reason they list them as double blacks is because they arent groomed and considered off piste. they groom their normal blacks. in terms of steepness, i think their double blacks and blacks are the same
@hb70303 жыл бұрын
@@PhaseSkater I just think Bogus is generous with it's ratings. It might be for good reason, since those runs are harder than the other blacks and Bogus probably doesn't want random people dropping into them. I still don't think they are double blacks, but are harder than what Bogus calls single blacks, so maybe it makes sense.
@PhaseSkater3 жыл бұрын
@@hb7030 rating are based on the individual resort itself. It’s not a universal scaling thing. For example, the black diamonds in North Carolina resorts and many other east coast resorts would be equal to maybe a green run out west. Or here at timberline on mount hood, also known as flat line, blue runs make up most of the mountain if you Google the trail map, but all of the blues on timberline are actually LESS steep than the green runs at mount hood skibowl literally across the street. Compared to timberline, bogus basin is pretty steep. Still not as steep as Colorado resorts or other places, but bogus and timberline it’s a night and day difference.
