i love the cheat sheet! its very helpful, im just having trouble with matching the ghost up. i think in the past few hours ive only gotten two right and that was only by randomly guessing correctly because they are normal speed ghosts, the cheat sheet cant really narrow them down all to well, but its good for helping figure out fast from slow ghosts but i cant seem to get the ghost nailed down. i do everything and think its a poltergeist and it turns out to be an oni or something, i might just be bad at the game lol

Don't be discouraged! Learning the ghosts quirks takes time, but the cheat sheet also provides you with details of each ghosts' ability and how to tell if it is that ghost! Hope that helps!

This measly 2-3k is only gunna be useful if you can get it 1/2 times or 1/1 times. Because if you don't the xp can be matched if not beaten on profes or nightmare.

This! I have a decent understanding of most fast and slow ghosts - but when it comes to the normal speeds, I find it really difficult to differentiate between them without equipment checks

I almost always try to smudge the ghost to check if it's spirit (spirit will halt even with basic smudge) and i tend to watch items cause if it makes the item fly across the map it's probably a poltergeist. Banshee usually follows you, so if it keeps doing ghost events in your spots that means it's targeting you which is banshee. I've remember some identifiable features of normal speed ghosts. But yes, an in depth explanation with timestamps would be useful.

Thaye and Moroi’s “starting” speed are extremely similar, and it’s screwed me over a few times. But the cheat sheet was still very useful to help identify specific behaviors during hunts.

i use this very informative site, and a tip that could be useful to others is after a hunt, i leave and save the clip using shadowplay. i can analyze more and much easier to tap to the footsteps this way.

Yeah, same here. Fast ghosts are easy to bag.. if they don't insta-kill me while infront of the campfire. Also Mimics are hard to decide on as you say to only bring incense.

Can you make a video helping to differentiate the ghosts using this method? I've had multiple occasions when the ghost is approx 1.7m/s fast and I just can't pinpoint which one it is since so many of them go around that speed.

You can figure it out from the way the ghost behaves outside of a hunt. Wrait won't step in salt, place a lot of salt around activity and wait. If its been ages and the salt has never been touched, its a wraith. Jinn can never turn off the breaker Mares are less active with the lights on, and are less likely to hunt with them on. They also have a chance to turn off a light switch a second after you turn it on. Obakes move at normal speed, but have a 16% chance per blink to shape-shift into another ghost model before moving back to their previous one. They also have a 16% chance to leave a 6-fingered fingerprint if you're playing on at least 1 evidence. Hantus change their speed relative to the room temperature, if you notice the ghost shifting speeds around, it may be a hantu. Raijus do the same as hantus, except their ability to speed up is based around their proximity around active electronics. When the breaker is off and they are around no active electronics, they move at normal speed. Place a torch outside of your hiding spot, get it's attention, and run into your hiding spot. If, when it passes close to your torch, it speeds up suddenly, it's a raiju. Mimics will always show ghost orbs, even on no evidence runs. Poltergeists can throw multiple items. You can stack a pile of items on the ground as close together as possible, and if it "explodes", it's a poltergeist. Revenants will sound ridiculously slow when they don't have line of sight on you, but will speed up to a terrifying 3m/s(?) the second they see you. Spirits are affected by Smudge sticks for 240 seconds, meaning they can't hunt for 240 seconds after being affected by incense. This is 2x longer than the typical ghost. If you smudge the ghost, and it doesn't hunt for a stupid amount of time after, despite being on 0% sanity and in the dark, it could be a spirit. Morris modify their movement speed based on your sanity level. 0% sanity I believe is 2.75m/s, and 50% is normal speed.

@@fatboyinasandpit3434 These help with regular gameplay, not the custom match used with this grinding method. You also listed mainly ghosts that are easy to identify. Take Mare and Jinn for example, how are you supposed to know when it uses it's ability when the breaker is broken? It's also hard to determine how the ghost acts out of a hunt when this method is made specifically to make the ghost hunt as often as possible.

Unfortunately you're not going to get the ghost right everytime sometimes you'll run into a jinn like you said or something that's hard to identify, its just how it goes. The point of the grinding method is to get in and out quick so even if you do get a harder ghost to identify you can make a guess and be back in a new game asap.

It’s just rough trying to differentiate between certain ghosts, Oni and Phantom are no problem, it’s just all the others who’s tells are more based outside of hunts rather than inside of one. Doesn’t exactly help I had 5 mylings who were so unbelievably subtle in a row that it hurt my brain.

@@LynxRecruit mylings are pretty easy to spot, but you need to make distance from it. if you wont hear the footsteps or anything from quite a distance then its myling, also, you cant really check all the ghosts in this strategy, unless you bring all items, but then you higher a risk.

@@fenixo7443 I don’t have a problem with Mylings in this strategy surprisingly. It’s just entirely dependent on what there room is, because I can audibly tell the distance, but if they are closer to the campfire and refuse to go anywhere further it’s a harder tell.

i only ever got the ghost right twice with this method it only got me 3 levels because i had to change ghost speed due to the way i was playing (I can only guess right sometimes If they're a ghost that actually has stuff I understand like hantu breathing and revenant speed.)

the timer is to test for spirit or demon, you start the timer once u smudge. if it hunts again between 60 and 90s, its a demon, if it does not hunt until at least 3 min, its likely a spirit, though not guaranteed since the ghost could just not hunt for that long. however if you are using the method from this video, you only do 1 hunt and leave so you dont need to use it

@@mjlau9652 I see thank you! I’m using another similar method from Insym and I’m able to rule most ghost out from footsteps alone but I struggle with Spirit/Demon because of the timer. Sometimes I’d smudge during a hunt and it wouldn’t stop hunting for about 5-10 sec after and then I’d start the timer so it always felt like it was incorrect

Amazing again, awesome explaining, do you recommend to "reset" if the ghost speed is normal? Because there is a lot of scenarios and make really difficult to identify for example Obake, or the Jinn which will not trigger speed boost with broken energy

If the ghost is normal speed and you don't have any idea on what it is, it's much faster to make a guess in the dark and get back into a brand new game. Obake's will typically shapeshift into a different ghost model for a brief period of time at least once per hunt, so hope that helps! Jinn's are particularly tricky on this custom game mode since the breaker is broken.

Some normal speed ghosts have easily identifiable characteristics, others don’t. If you don’t know what normal speed ghost you’re dealing with, it’s best to make an educated guess, leave and try and get one you do know!
