Great video Brenton, even if they don't upgrade to sealed bearings the new sprocket/disc bolts is a upgrade most need. I just get sick seeing all those sheared bolts and ruined hubs.

I totally agree

Please make a video listing all of the upgrades you made your phatmoto, and where you purchased the parts...Amazing, would love to learn some of your skills

I would have use ceramic or high quality racing steel bearings and use titanium bolts for the disc.
@brentonjones393 Жыл бұрын
Better the quality, the longer it will last. I would have to agree with you.
@jr0079 Жыл бұрын
Ceramic bearings are 3 - 5 time stronger then steel. Motorcycle gain 3mph in 1/4 mile.

why did you not just use the old axel to drive the old cups out? getting the s driver stuck was pure slapstick.
@brentonjones3935 ай бұрын
Yeah most of the guys switching to sealed bearings are going to be using their stock axles as they do not need a dirtbike axle. But that bearing cup was being a booger. Lol They typically come out easier than that. The punch that I normally use works a little better. FyI to all that attempt this cheap swap.

I use the black Allen Bolts from the hardware store for my sprocket, I had some issues with the stock bolts, and then I red Loctite them, which may be Overkill I probably could have got away with the blue, I just didn't want to have any more issues I almost trashed my frame when the bolts started backing out.
@brentonjones3932 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are a real problem. With the lock nut on the inside of the hub I shouldn't have that issue anymore

I miss spoke in the video. The shim stock I used was .25 mm. This allowed two pieces making a total of .50 mm..
@alexiezachariades48722 жыл бұрын
So when you drill out the bolts, aren't you weakening the brake rotor bolts sections? What about 30mm diameter wheel hub flanged bearings and you just open up the up .5mm all around?
@brentonjones3932 жыл бұрын
As soon as I get the chance I'll show you how much metal you have left after drilling it out. This is my second rim doing this to and with the torque of a 125cc dirt bike engine it holds up well. If you have the money I totally recommend the Gemini wheels which are made for this application.. This is just a quick fix on some of the biggest issues the phatmoto community has been having.

What I'm trying to do is get the bearings changed for the back wheel . I have a phatmoto fat tire ,80 cc would you happen to know what type or the size of the bearings because they want me to buy a hole back rim for the bearings . And that seems crazy I think

Thanks for the video. I was hoping that you would start posting how to videos on your bike. Are those that stock 12g spokes? I've had more issues with broken spokes than the bearings.

For now they are stock. I'll be upgrading them soon as I can though.

Do you have a link to those bearings with the lip? Are they 29mm?

With the bigger Engine. Does the Size of the Stock Fuel Tank cause issues. What's the range on it now? 50 Miles?
@brentonjones393 Жыл бұрын
I have not tested the range, but I can ride over two hours. Sorry that's the best info I have at this time.

Also maybe pack it with grease before you put the bearings in.

Hello Mr. Jones (Indiana Jones). Is the axle on your all terrain the same diameter as the rover? I want to put together 26X3 wheels with 11g spokes with better hubs for higher speed rating, something way more robust. Any suggestions?
@brentonjones393 Жыл бұрын
The Rover should have the same hub Diameter but different widths as the AT. But you know what they say measure twice cut once. Check out the Group on FB called Phatmoto (Builds/mods & Info). They have all the info you will need to get the right size parts.

Why is the sleeve necessary for the hub? Could it work without it?
@brentonjones393 Жыл бұрын
You can find 29mm OD flanged bearings but they are not readily available. 28mm Flanged bearings are more common, easier to find, and cheaper
