Hi all,
For this video, i talked about the structure of a PhD program in the UK. This is from start of the program, what are the milestones that you have to meet before you can progress to the next stage of the PhD. From initial review to the final viva and some requirements for you to pass these milestones.
Hope useful, regards

I am doing the structured PhD. I took coursework in my year 1 and 2. I am now in my 3rd year and will be focusing fully on my research for the next two years. Each year I have to submit a 4000 words report and face a panel. The structured PhD is a four years program. Your videos are helpful. Keep up the good work Dr.

I would also love to do coursework in my PhD before starting a research part.

@@latifalitwe7855 Coursework is really helpful just that it requires lots of work. It also helps you to narrow down your topic, consider your methodology, literature review etc.

Yes, this is another structure. Although not as common in the UK for now, few universities are offering it under, integrated PhD. A student will complete one or two years of Masters program doing course work especially those that may be related to research methodology before starting the PhD itself. Some scholarship body also have this type of PhD, for example ESRC which is just recently open to international students from this years' PhD intake. Thank you for your kind comment sis

@@latifalitwe7855 Absolutely, i imagine it would be very helpful. I did the traditional one and was a struggle to learn all methodologies, and select your preferred one while working on you PhD milestones at the same time. I had to put in endless hours trying to figure out methodologies, your research questions, tools needed and more. However, not to discourage you, it is doable, a lot of PhD candidates in the UK have done it. Just go with any type that fall on your plate
