Cool! I am moving from Europe to USA for a PhD as well at the end of this Summer. Some questions that you could maybe answer in your videos: 1. what does the structure of your program look like? Most US PhDs are 5-6 years with 2 years of coursework, comprehensive exams, prospectus and then dissertation, but if I am not mistaken yours is 3 years. how will it look like? Will you have to do some TA or RA as well? 2. Are you applying for the F1 visa? So far the process has not been too difficult for me yet, maybe you can tell more about it and the hurdles you encountered. 3. if there is no public transport going to your university, will you be taking a car?

Making decisions about books when moving is NOT fun. I've moved countries several times, and I feel you girl! In the past I've gone through the books and seen which ones I can bear to part with. Then I take as many as I can when I go. The rest get added to any family/friend suit cases when they come visit. Slowly they arrive in the new country. My parents have also gone down the route of shipping their books in the past. Seems like overkill. But its BOOKS!

It's sort of sad, cute, and uncomfortable that you really think the "3-year program" in the literature really means 3 years. I'm rooting for you, but in all honesty, expect to live there for 5-10 years. (Anything less could honestly work against you.) Enjoy.
