Not sure if you’re Still taking questions, but I’m looking into a PhD , but was thinking of psyd as well, at 2:50, you were talking about how you wanted more options. Are you saying with a PHD you have more options? Because I do want to do research for the main part of my career and some clinal work but I don’t want to rule out clinical therapy maybe in the latter half of my career. So are you saying you have more options pursuing a PhD ?

Hi! Thank you for your videos. I'm torn between clinical psychology and psychiatry. I already have the requirements for both. Do you know how I can decide? Thank you!
@GradLifeGrind4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mari! The degree you choose to personal is a very personal decision. It really depends what you hope to do in the future. Clinical psychologists and psychiatrists may hold many of the same roles but they typically work in different settings. Think about the setting you’d like to work in (for example, hospital or other). Think about whether you are interested in medicine or psychological research or therapy. Think about what types of patients you see yourself working with. As a psychologist you won’t be able to prescribe medication. That’s the main difference. But there are many nuances to each career path. Hope you find what’s right for you!

So can I not teach at the university level with an PsyD?
@GradLifeGrind4 жыл бұрын
You certainly can
@saawariyakonwar30423 жыл бұрын
May I know who teaches the PsyD students? A PhD holder or a PsyD holder? So if I do PsyD can I become a teacher of PsyD course atleast?
@GradLifeGrind3 жыл бұрын
Can be both! You can teach with a PsyD as well, but it's more common to have a full professor title (with your own research lab) with a PhD

Can I do both at the same time
@GradLifeGrind3 жыл бұрын
Both a PsyD and a PhD? I don't believe so. Not sure why you would want to pursue two doctoral degrees in the same subject at the same time.

So PhD can still do clinical psychology after graduation?
@GradLifeGrind2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I understand your question. This video covers two pathways to pursuing clinical psychology: PhD in clinical psychology and PsyD (doctor of psychology)

I’m looking to go the PsyD route is this still possible
@GradLifeGrind3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Not sure what you're asking, but it is possible to get your PsyD without getting a master's first.

I’m a psych major. I’m on my second year of college. Therapy or counseling is not something I’m interested in. I am, however, fascinated by psychopathy/sociopathy. Would that be abnormal psych, and would that branch be better suited with a PhD or Psyd? What’s your take? Thank you.
@GradLifeGrind4 жыл бұрын
Hi! It depends what you would like to do for work. It sounds like abnormal psychology would be a good class to take, but it is not considered a branch of psychology. Maybe you would be interested in forensic psychology? If you’re interested in criminal behavior?

Which one has less math???
@GradLifeGrind3 жыл бұрын
LOL probably PsyD, but I believe you do have to take statistics for both
@theanonymousasmrchanelguid26203 жыл бұрын
@@GradLifeGrind Hmm well I took stats in undergrad, will I have to retake it again? Also does the actual job itself with having a degree in Psy.D, will the job require a lot of states. I mostly care about counseling so I’m not big into experiments and research.

What is the duration for PsyD and PhD ? What if someone wants to be a teacher or professor then what is the best option ?
