Great in-depth review as always Pheas. However I personally would spend £50 more and buy a Billet Wolverine MTW (as I already have a Hpa setup, that said its only another £160 for a tank, line, reg etc and you are good to go). So for me while it looks the dogs it’s very average in performance unlike a wolverine. I guess that TM fan boys diehard fans of AEGs won’t agree but I find Hpa has far more performance advantages over an aeg of similar price. This is Just my opinion and not meant to stir up any controversy I just feel for the money it’s low on performance for your pound (but looks the mutts nuts).

Don't like that Deans soldering. Looks weak and you have exposed terminals too!

Yep, I added hot glue to protect the terminals, however the soldering was good.

Hiya! Unfortunately not. There is too much instability after brexit of importing. It's mostly down to the issues being had with the courier's getting them through quickly and reliably. I believe Gunfire is still shipping, using UPS, but it's a case of be warned it might not be smooth sailing. Pheas

God that’s some inconsistent FPS:/

I said the same, got to the mid point of the video he says his chrono is fucked. Was about to comment and say send it back or fix it cus 100fps difference is terrible, you can tell when he shoots the tracers though that the gun doesn't have 100fps difference it's just the chrono

These can be safely upgraded. I’m not sure where this “they can’t be upgraded or they break” comes from. And these do not run on 11.1v .. your friend dodge a bullet there. Maybe that’s the best example ever really if a customer doesn’t know that a certain speed battery does or doesn’t break a gun in 30 seconds, should we be surprised when upgrades also break the gun, it’s simply down to knowledge of the person upgrading it. If buyers are not sure about upgrading these, take them to a shop and get workshop work done with a warranty attached. A power spring sorts out any low fps issues due to these being imports. In terms of the final conclusion, it’s heart breaking to give it back but you wouldn’t buy it ? That’s all it comes down to with tms, they sell out at current prices, just imagine if they was at cyma prices. No company would get a look in. It’s the same argument with anything nice and expensive, can you the buyer justify it, it’s important to separate personal circumstances with a review of something that you would or wouldn’t buy, I can’t afford a Porsche but I’m not going to say I can get 4 fords for the same price so the Porsche isn’t worth it, or take away from the Porsches build quality and extras it has over the Ford. We It sounded like you could get 4 cyma for the same price as 1 tm was your argument, but the cyma doesn’t have the same external build quality, wireless stock system, bolt stop feature, blowback feature, recoil feature, rotary hop unit or internal quality control. But it’s m4 shaped so its the same thing. I understand price performance is a thing and people are always going to be looking for the best thing at the cheapest price it’s literally the definition of wish .com, I’m quite sure there’s iPhone copies on there for half the price but an unbiased review needs to be just that, you can’t review a gbls das and say it was heart breaking to see it leave but you wouldn’t buy it at 1600. Take money out of the equation if that’s even possible for any of us and I can’t see anyone sensibly saying no to it assuming 416 is what they are in the market for. I my self would struggle I’m in a place in life now where I just am happy with a Hyundai, I have no place for a Porsche finically or physically. Some peoples answers to whether or not they want a tm are immediately no because it’s almost impossible to factor in 600 pounds. Even if it was a gift you could sell it and get 4 other guns. I get it. But as a review, it needs to be clear that they are not the same not in my opinion is the overall max potential interms of range and accuracy, if that’s important to people. The hop unit on this thing is simply exceptional when coupled with a power spring and heavy ammo. Not a dig just constructive hopefully critique for 5am and worst case food for your algorithm.

A quick question, how is the max potential higher in this TM, compared to lets say a budget Cyma that has £450 worth of gearbox and hopup in it? Build quality, absolutely, they are incomparable, but pure potential-wise they are absolutely equal, as they share the same platform.

Noone said "they can't be upgraded or they break". Thing is a marui likely doesn't break when you leave it untouched. If you tech around and and upgrade the spring, the gearbox gets put under more stress and the marui gearboxes arent built for that. They are set up for japan and they work as intended. And for your "constructive critique regarding the final conclusion: yeah, it's heartbreaking to give it away, it's a marui, duh. That doesn't mean everyone would pay the price for one of them if they can just buy a cyma. Also have fun spending loads of money on an NGRS and then loads of money to upgrade it or buy spares if it dies under your increased spring pressure.
@andycoates59382 жыл бұрын
I don't think Pheas said you cant upgrade a TM, I think he pointed out that if you leave a TM alone they work forever. Obviously, they can be upgraded but as L'Arnold points out the actual design of the whole gearbox is for lower FPS. So if you upgrade a TM you need to consider a number of parts other than say a simple spring upgrade.

@@larnoldthespaceguy Exactly, like with all things in life you pay for premium quality. The guns (Delta & DEVGRU) are both mine. I've played the game for many many years and had everything from a CYMA to Systema, KWA etc. The TM Sopmod was my first expensive purchase. The only upgrade was an Eagle 6 LIPO (one of the first he ever made) and it was an absolute epic weapon. It lasted almost 12 years without one issue but sadly it started showing its age. I think the whole sport is simply preference and budget. Two of my favourite weapons are a Mac10 and Double Eagle DMR, both dirt cheap guns but both great fun.

@@birtalanlorant5572 to keep using the car analogy a while ago, lotus took a lada, an old car and upgraded it with 250k worth of tuning. It was better it went round a race track now but given the choice there’s fundamental design changes that needed to be made at its core to go any further. If you look at the history of the guns, tm made the v2 m4 in 30 years ago. Soon after companies like g@g and classic army and ics all started making there’s and eventually cyma doing clones of tm. 12 years ago Tokyo Marui, decided to add to there line up with a replacement of the aeg they invented, instead of building apon the current m4 and making changes they fundamentally changed things like the physical size of magazines, size of the lower, design of the hop unit even length of nozzle. Imagine making a list of all the issues current techs had with the Marui m4 and then fixing it all with a whole new gun. It’s why calling them recoils is incorrect, they are Tokyo maruis next generation of aeg. One of its features is a recoil engine. At that point other airsoft companies where to invested in the old m4 design to change so instead of again copying tm, companies didn’t and it came out and was then not widely adopted. This is where the whole gearbox version number thing came from as companies copied tm verbatim, but tm has now replaced the v2 gearbox with new v2. With companies now drifting more and more away from “tm spec” because it was fundamentally flawed in the first place, from unwinding hop units, to dropping bbs out when you take a mag out, to hop units unwinding as you used it. So when you see the history, it doesn’t invalidate other guns they arnt instantly rubbish because theres a new version, many companies like krytac and g&g have identified flaws in maruis design and made steps to address it. But just from a gun tech perspective, when someone brings in a normal aeg and asks for max performance, I have never been able to achieve the effortless max range that the Marui has been able to achieve. No matter what’s thrown at it. Sometimes you can. But not all the time. A great example is cyma aeps, they always without exception chrono low fps after upgrades than tms and they are exact clones. Exactly. So what’s the difference? Quality and control and tolerance. It’s a really big part of gun teching nowadays. You sometimes have guns so off spec that your now having to do major changes to make things work. The biggest selling point when I switched to ngrs back in the day was that I was simply feed up of cheap gun problems, putting up with stuff because I was on a budget, the ngrs is expensive but it moves you to new mags that always feed every last bb, a quality and feel that’s second to none and a sense of immersion becuase of the recoil and bolt stop feature. The bolt stop feature is really handy. Another history point, why do people say “just get a tm?” It’s interesting how it evolved in the community. Normal aegs have made strides to catch up but back in the day when the ngrs first came out I would out range everyone by a good 10 meters. It was so much so that people used to “hate” on them because they couldn’t or wouldn’t buy one them selves. And thus a love hate culture for tm was born. We now know more about rotary hop units tdc deaigns and hop alignment and with effort from makers and good techs normal aegs with effort can be as good but again, for simply spending cash you get all that out of the box only needing a power spring and you get the extra features like recoil, bolt stop etc which simply can’t be added to most normal aegs. So long story short to answer your question when you say they “share the same platform” it would be a classic case of im sorry but you are indeed wrong in that assumption. Tech wise they are a different beast entirely from position of mag to length of nozzle to hop unit style.
