A lot of working dogs will stay on the job until they collapse for exhaustion and/or heat stroke. It's up to the handler to keep an eye on the dog to look for the signs. The dog WANTS to keep working because in their mind they don't want to disappoint their boss and often they're enjoying themselves as well.

Bring a Gatorade squeeze bottle with water when you are out hunting. Train her to bottle drink when you squirt the water in her mouth. My girlfriend's dad trained their dog to drink from a water bottle when they are out in the field to keep the dog hydrated.

Pro tip for if Lucy gets tired: I usually bring a collapsible bowl and a bottle of water when I hunt upland birds. It cools down the dog and keeps her nose wet to help her find scent. Thanks for making this vid, my dog got spayed a few days ago so I can’t take her hunting for a while. Good to know I can come watch someone having a damn good time!

I've worked with game birds for ages and the way we release them is we put the crate into some cover with trees and bushes and just open the crate and let them out, they'll jump about and panic for a bit but once they find their way into the cover theyll settle and spread a out a bit.
